Resident Evil 4 Report
At its Second Annual Gamers' Day in Las Vegas, Nevada last week, Capcom Entertainment offered up new details on its top-secret survival horror sequel, tentatively titled Resident Evil 4, and also announced a surprising new strategy for the franchise. Company officials commented that in order to maximize R&D resources the title would be developed for all of the major next-generation consoles including Nintendo's GameCube.
Resident Evil 4 is being created in-house at Capcom's studios and is headed by Shinji Mikame. The plan, according to Capcom spokespeople, is to realize RE4 for Sony's PlayStation 2 later this year, with other versions to follow in 2002 for competing systems.
Meanwhile, at the event Capcom also spoke briefly about Resident Evil 0, which it described as a game in development for a "new" platform. Interesting that the company could not be more specific as it had previously announced the title for Nintendo's GameCube.
By Capcom's own plans, RE4 in 2002. It seems Nintendo loyalists are in for a whole lot of zombie killing.
