Thrall | "Deathblow Unknown" |
Hits: Damage: Combat: Resistance: Cost: Armor Pierce: Slash: Crush: Fire: Magic: |
Thralls are very cheap, fairly quick to produce, but build very slowly. Because of their low cost, they are the best mine-stuffing unit in the game, and until you reach keep lvl three, theey are the only builder the the barbarian side has. |
Barbarian | "Deathblow Unknown" |
Hits: Damage: Combat: Resistance: Cost: Armor Pierce: Slash: Crush: Fire: Magic: |
Barbarians are a short range missile unit. they have very low base combat
skill, but it is highly upgradable through training and gladiator upgrades
from the camp, and they get range, damage, and speed upgrades from the
fortress. Very weak in the early game, the main thing that barbarians have
going for them is that their missiles do carry-through damage, which means
that they can hit multiple targets. Their hits are average for a lvl 1
unit, but their armor sucks, and only gets a +1 upgrade at keep lvl 3
(this is a cheap upgrade, though). Barbarians are most effective when used
in huge groups (15 or more), but because they are cheap and produce
quickly, making huge groups does not take very long.
Another unique feature of barbarians is that if they are put in a tower, they give the tower carrythrough damage, which basically turns the tower into a stationary ballista. This allows barbarians to build very well defended bases, as each tower can his many units at once. |
Wardog | "Deathblow Unknown" |
Hits: Damage: Combat: Resistance: Cost: Armor Pierce: Slash: Crush: Fire: Magic: |
War dogs are the basic melee unit for barbarians. They cost gold, not
metal, and they are fast, but not particularly tough. they serve 4 main
purposes.
1. if you put them in towers they increase the fire rate. 2. They keep enemy melee units off of your barbarians in the early game. 3. They can be used in early resource raids. 4. they serve as decent melee troops in mid game, when you are at your army limit and have to choose between 1 rider or 2 dogs. war dogs are generally superior to minotaurs, but become obsolete once reavers become available. |
Raider | "Deathblow unknown" |
Hits: Damage: Combat: Resistance: Cost: Armor Pierce: Slash: Crush: Fire: Magic: |
Riders are a cheap cavalry unit that produces reasonably quickly. they are
probably the weakest cavalry in the game without upgrades, but with the +5
combat and speed upgrades they become as good or better than most cavalry,
and are one of the fastest units in the game. Riders cost only metal. you
must have a corral, available at keep lvl 2, to produce riders.
riders are excellent for razing enemy mines, isolated towers, temples, and outposts, with hit and run tactics, as almost nothing can catch them once they have their speed upgrades. they are also good melee units to protect your barbs with. the choice to produce riders vs. dogs generally depends on whether or not you have managed to build a corral, and which resources you can afford, as riders cost metal and dogs cost gold. |
Minotaur | "Deathblow Unknown" |
Hits: Damage: Combat: Resistance: Cost: Armor Pierce: Slash: Crush: Fire: Magic: |
Minotaurs are an expensive intermediate infantry unit available at keep lvl 3. they cost metal and stone, so unless you are swimming in these resources and too starved for gold to produce dogs or the corral, they are not very useful, as they are both more expensive than and inferior to both dogs and riders. |
Reaver | "Deathblow Unknown" |
Hits: Damage: Combat: Resistance: Cost: Armor Pierce: Slash: Crush: Fire: Magic: |
Reavers can be produced from camps if you have a keep lvl 5. for a general, they have fast production times and low cost, which allows them to be mass produced. They have very good combat and damage, but poor armor, which makes them vulnerable to missile units. They also do triple damage to all large units, which appears to mean any unit that takes up more than one army point (in other words, all cavalry, titans, siege engines, treants, golems, ancient wisps, ogres, trolls, giants, mino kings and salamanders). Becasue they are expendable, they can be sent out on dangerous conversion missions without you worrying too much about them. |
Eagles | "Deathblow Unknown" |
Hits: Damage: Combat: Resistance: Cost: Armor Pierce: Slash: Crush: Fire: Magic: |
available from a lvl 1 eyrie (which you need a lvl 3 keep to build), eagles
are tough air to air combat units. they are great against air-based races
like fey and daemons, and have very long view ranges so are good for
scouting and surveillance. They also build faster than thralls, so you can
retire your thralls to your mines and build with eagles once you have a
couple produced.
eagles cost gold to produce. |
Pegasus | "Deathblow Unknown" |
Hits: Damage: Combat: Resistance: Cost: Armor Pierce: Slash: Crush: Fire: Magic: |
Pegasi are produced from a lvl 2 eyrie, which requires a lvl 4 keep. They are the standard 'good' lvl 4 flier, but because they benefit from the same combat and speed upgrades that riders get, they are considerably more powerful than most other lvl 4 fliers, and they are extremely fast. they essentially make rider obsolete, except in specialized circumstances. Pegasi cost crystal and gold. |
Dragon | "Deathblow Unknown" |
Hits: Damage: Combat: Resistance: Cost: Armor Pierce: Slash: Crush: Fire: Magic: |
Dragons can be produced at a lvl 3 eyrie, available at keep lvl 5. Dragons are good for barbarians for the following reasons. 1. Its the only really tough unit they get, and compliments the upgraded pegesi nicely. 2. Barbarians have easy resource management, so dragons (and lvl 3 eyries) are much more affordable for barbarians than they are for other races. 3. Because barbarians get lots of army point upgrades, there is always room in the army for big late game units like dragons. The dragons also get the universal training and armor uprades that the barbarian side recieves. |
Tempest | "Deathblow Unknown(ok i do know it but i'm too lazy to see if i have it :)" |
Hits: Damage: Combat: Resistance: Cost: Armor Pierce:5 Slash:5 Crush:5 Fire:5 Magic:5 |
Tempest is the Barbarian titan. he is produced from the altar of tempest, once you have a lvl 5 keep. He is the only flying titan with a ranged attack, but as a result, he is the weakest of the titans, with low hits, combat, and armor. he is also slower than the other fliers barbarians can produce- something to keep in mind if he has to run away. However, when used to provide missile support for dragons and pegesi, he can be extremely effective, and the fact that he flies and had a ranged attack makes him good for micromanaging. |
