The report submitted by Agents Dumain and Crossley is full of gaps and questionable material.
What we are certain of is as follows:
After arriving on the scene, Agent Dumain and I attempted to establish a dialogue with the local police that had already arrived and set up a perimeter of barricades around the entire building. Agent Dumain, the senior officer spoke with the assistant principal who informed us that a student had become violent and killed the school nurse and a police officer. The local sheriff also informed us that one of his deputies had entered the building some time before and never been heard from again.
We entered the building at 2:55 p.m. from the south entrance by the cafeteria. We made a quick but thorough search of the ground floor and attempted to gain as much intelligence as we could about the layout of the second floor. According to the building plans, there was a fire exit on the second floor that would allow us access to the band room from the roof via one of the windows. There were no buildings facing the band room from which to set up sharpshooters so we made the decision to make a rush at it ourselves. Dumain took the front door while I went onto the roof and down the fire escape.
I took up a position at the window where I was able to view nearly the entire band room. There were six people inside, the deputy, who appeared injured, an adult male who appeared dead, four students huddled in one corner of the room, and two naked students having a vigorous round of sex on the floor in the middle of the room. Agent Dumain interrupted them from behind the door, where the window had been shot out.
"Jeremy, this is Agent Dumain of the FBI. I would like very much to talk to you. The young man appeared very agitated. "J. Edgar Hoover wore dresses!" He screamed and howled. She appeared not to notice the change.
There was a strong odor in the room, like powerful urine. Agent Dumain explained to me over the radio that he was going to rush the room. Since neither of them appeared to be armed, I agreed with him. We took control of the room very easily. Dumain grabbed the girl and I trained my gun on the young man. They appeared not to understand why we were there.
"Agent Dumain is a homosexual," said the boy, still in a state of arousal. "He likes to look at me! He is a gay boy!"
Dumain was, in fact, openly gay. How the boy knew this, I do not know. The girl, who before now seemed not to notice us, immediately sprang into action as we attempted to subdue the boy. I moved in to pin him to the floor as Dumain separated the two of them. She slashed at his eyes with her nails and grabbed him and the young man produced a gun, pointing it in Dumain's direction. The entire thing happened in about five seconds. Dumain and the girl froze, and I held my gun on him, and he smiled and winked at the girl.
"Crossley had a baby, and the baby died," said the boy. "Crossley had a wife and she died too. Teenage pregnancies are at an all-time high."
Unaware it was coming until the shot rang out, a bullet struck my partner in the side of the head. I put three bullets into the boy, two in his chest and one in his throat. Both Dumain and the boy were dead before they hit the ground. The girl went crazy, shaking the boy's dead body and licking his face. She also seemed to lose some bodily control as she urinated where she sat. I put my coat around her and attended to the injured deputy. The students who were being held fled the moment I waved them away. Their names appear later on in this report. As I was helping the deputy, the girl stood, and as I watched, ran to the window I had left open and flung herself from it, falling to her death before I could stop her.
While I take a certain amount of responsibility for the death of my partner, the strange nature of the young couple's behavior has left me with many questions about what happened. Though cleared of any responsibility for what happened in this case, there are a number of oddities in the details of what happened. The official explanation of the incident is that two young lovers discovered that they were going to have a baby, and, unable to cope with the stress of the situation, the boy went insane and decided to kill himself and as many others as possible. Also, when faced with the possibility of raising an unwanted child by herself and without support from the father, the young girl killed herself.
