Some dos games can run well in Windows. Some cannot and should BE RAN IN PURE DOS.
IF YOU ARE IN WINDOWS ALREADY: point to the start menu -> point to shut-down, click shut-down, then click on "restart in MSDOS mode", then click ok. You will then be brought into MSDOS mode and go find the game on your hard drive and run the program. IF YOU ARE ALREADY IN DOS OR HAVE JUST REBOOTED: wait for your Microsoft Windows 95/98/9x Startup Menu or press F8 and select with your arrow keys (cursor keys) and highlight with your cursor command prompt only (MSDOS mode) and then go find the game on your harddrive and run the program. PROGRAMS RUNNING WEIRD: For those games that must run weird within Windows or encounter problems due to lack of memory, or just don't play right, run within DOS and that usually fixes the problem. Noted beside SOME games will say to RUN IN PURE DOS ONLY with the game info on the games page. Some OTHER games not noted may need to run in pure dos also or can run fine in windows. Try and see how the program reacts. Brandon's DOS Games Database and More! recommends running the game in dos so all memory is available to you. Also, the article pertaining to XP users on the games page may interest Windows 9x users also as many useful tips are in that also. Hopes this help those people that are running into this problem or will eventually. Thanks again for visiting Brandon's DOS Games Database and More!
