Since Yahoo tally's and distributes all the points assigned to team managers players electronically and also ranks and assigns teams to the playoffs my involvement in that process ends after I set up how the league is to be scored. Where the conflict of interest comes into play is in the drafting process. It's undeniable that being both a team manager and the commissioner gives me an advantage in the draft. While in theory I plan to send out e-mails "every day" for draft contracts, I am only human. There will be times when I will be unable to accomplish this simple feat. If any other team manager must take a hiatus their involvement in the draft over that time is limited. Since the draft system is reliant on my direct involvement this I acknowledge gives me a significant advantage.
The second advantage is that an unfair commissioner looking to gain an advantage could wait until the other team managers e-mail their contracts and then over bid or tie bids to be the front runner in the bidding process.
To counter balance these two possibly unbalanced situations the commissioner will attach his bid before he e-mails the auction list to the rest of the team mangers. This will be the current bid for those players (hence, all mangers will have to over bid) This should help counter any advantage the commissioner gains as a Team manager; by making it impossible to be the front runner of a tie and allowing all team managers to know the commissioner's bid before having to place their own.
