In yet another new venue, the third in 4 years, I was expecting to be disappointed but was pleasantly surprised. There were many games being played and apparently there was a DBM tournament that took place, I didn't see it as it was squirreled away in the basement and was not even announced.
I ran a game, the Battle of Adowa from, Mark Fastoso's Colonial Campaigns book I, this was the second time I've run it at a convention and the fourth time I've actually run it and for the first time the Ethiopians won. Most of my Photos are of this game, by the time it were over I just wanted to sit down.
"The Spur" (under the paper) has Fallen by turn 3 that is not good for the Italians who must now hold both "The Well" and "the Pass" for the rest of the game.
The Ethiopians preparing to claim victory, the Italians trying to head'em off at "the Pass"
Turn 11 has the victorious Ethiopians moving on "the Pass" the Italians can be seen huddling around "The Well" at the forks of the Streams.
This game was well fought and went right to the end of my time bracket, event though I was an hour late getting started so it were played to a conclusion in just under 3 hours. I was hoarse by the end of it but everyone seemed to have a good time.
