The War On Infogrames
Part Two: Echoes of History

Chapter Three

Fury and Fudge stopped for a breather.  It had been thirty minutes since they had split up from the other agents, but so far the two warriors had encountered no threats.  Fudge took a swig from his canteen.  "So, Fury, how did you become an agent?" he asked.  The tall man looked down at the ground.  "Five years ago, Dragitron found me on a small island off the coast of Japan.  He took me with him and trained me as an agent.  Before that time, I remember nothing.  These strange powers that I have can't be explained."  Fury created a small orb of fire in his left hand and began to juggle it.  Then he asked Fudge the same question.  "How did you become an agent?"

Fudge looked at Fury and smiled.  "A few months ago, I was on a mercenary mission in Cambodia, clearing out an encampment of terrorists.  As I reached their secret base, Anonymous Benefactor somehow contacted me via my walkie-talkie.  I still don't know how he was able to reach me, but in any case, he asked me if I wanted to join the Agency to take care of even bigger threats.  I was unsure whether to trust him, but then he brought up my connection with Kirby Fong and how he and I both knew Fong was up to something."  Fudge took another drink.  Fury stared at his fellow agent, wide-eyed.  "You've dealt with that sadistic madman Kirby Fong?!"

Fudge had a somber look on his face.  "Yes.  For many years, he was my sensei.  Fong trained me in the dark arts, and eventually I became just as powerful as him.  But a few years ago, Fong's attitude suddenly changed.  He became obsessed with his new business associates.  They liked to wear strange black cloaks and they had an evil aura.  I knew immediately that my sensei had taken the dark path, and I left shortly thereafter."  He looked up at the night sky.  "I think it's time we moved on."

GWB looked through his binoculars and saw two guards waiting on the balcony above the fortress entrance.  He took a puff from his cigarette and smiled.  "Okay, boys, we've got two sitting ducks at 12:00 just waiting to be picked off.  Can I please snipe them?  Pretty please, with sugar on top?"  Dragitron chuckled slightly.  "All right, GWB, but be careful.  You get caught, and I'm not helping you out this time."  Then he turned to Gojira64.  "You're awfully quiet.  What's wrong?"

G64 seemed to be daydreaming.  He turned to Drag.  "Me?  Nothing's wrong.  I've just been thinking.  What the hell is Fong doing?  I mean, G:DAMM is just a video game.  What the hell could be so important about it that everything has to be kept in secrecy?"  Drag shrugged his shoulders.  "I don't know, kid.  Whatever it is, it's big.  But it's our job to find out what the hell is going on."

Suddenly two shots were heard.  Then they heard GWB yelling loudly.  The two agents ran to his location, expecting something bad.  They were wrong.  GWB was holding his rifle and celebrating.  "I took 'em both out, guys!  You should have seen it!  What a rush!  I can't wait to get in there and bust open some heads!"  Drag looked at GWB, then he slapped him on the right side of his head.  "Are you insane, boy?  You're gonna alert the whole god damn island!  Find a way in that's nice and quiet.  I don't wanna meet too much resistance."

GWB nodded, and ran from the bushes to the left side of the building.  On the second floor he saw an air vent.  "Perfect," he exclaimed.  He signaled to Drag and G64.  Then Drag turned to G64.  "I'm gonna take the right side.  Once GWB gets the drop on the next set of guards, I want you to back his ass up."  G64 nodded in acknowledgement.  He loaded his shotgun as Dragitron ran to the opposite side of the structure.

There was no going back now.
