The War On Infogrames
Part Two: Echoes of History

Chapter Nine

The agents stood in front of Black16 that night as he told his story.  It was almost dawn when he had finished, but by then, they understood everything.

"Before the worlds came to be, Elohem, the creator, made the Nephim.  Now, the Nephim were beings of great beauty and power, and Elohem gathered them before his throne, and they sang in great harmony.  And worlds were made by Elohem, and on these worlds Elohem placed Life.  This Life fascinated the Nephim, for it could create in its image, just as Elohem could, and the Nephim praised Elohem for this wonder of his wisdom.  And there was peace in Heaven.

"But there was a Nephim, Mehora, wiser and more beautiful than any other Nephim. There was a question that lingered in his heart; he questioned whether Elohem was truly who he proclaimed to be, the Creator. Mehora did not present this question to his Master, as he did not wish to seem foolish before his fellows.  And in this, a seed of evil was sown.  The doubt grew in his mind, until he was sure that his Creator came out of naught, only before himself.  And with this, he questioned Elohem's right to be praised, and to rule.

"Through his cunning, Mehora was able to seduce many of the other Nephim into doubt of their Master, saying that all are worthy to rule (though he did not believe this himself, being wiser than any other Nephim, he believed that he ought to rule). Through his deception, nearly one third of the Nephim joined in his secrete rebellion.  But Elohem knew of this occurrence the moment it happened.

"Then the day came when Elohem called Mehora before him, and questioned him.  Mehora put forth his delusion about his Creator, and demanded that all be given the right to rule.  Elohem was greatly saddened that his most gifted creation had fallen so far, but he had a hope to stem any further damage by the Fallen Nephim's evil.  Elohem proposed that Mehora and his followers be given a world to govern as they saw fit, allowing all of Creation to witness the fruits of Mehora's will.

"Mehora was pleased by this proposal, but before he left, a new name was given to him by Elohem. 'No longer shall you be called Mehora, for all light has departed from you.  Now you shall be called Levah, for much shall be twisted to evil by your will.'

"Afterward, Mehora, now called Levah, and his followers, now called Khawlal, the defiled, departed for their world.  And just as said by Elohem, all on that world was twisted to evil by Levah's will. The creatures tainted with evil were called tanniym by the Khawlal and kaiju in the tongues of Men (though the great beasts made by Elohem were called kaiju as well).  But Levah lusted after power, and attempted to invade another nearby world.  This great battle was referred to as the Kaiju Wars by the race of Men, for it was their world that was fought for.  In the end, Levah and his forces were defeated, most of the tanniym were destroyed, and Levah and many of the Khawlal where imprisioned in the Abyss, a great void cut off from all of Creation."

The agents were totally caught off guard by Black16's revelation.  GWB stared at Fire Rodan, who was resting comfortably in the shade.  "You mean to tell me that all kaiju were created by these gods?"  Black16 nodded in agreement.  Then Dragitron spoke out.  "Then those who controlled the kaiju during the Kaiju Wars were these Khawlal?"

"Yes," answered Black16 as he looked to the sky.  "It was a Khawlal that killed your father fifteen years ago, Dragitron.  That same Khawlal is behind this recent plot to destroy your civilization."

G64 looked inquisitively at Black16.  "Are you a Nephim?"  Black16 smiled at him.  "No, I am merely a servant of Elohem.  I assisted your people in the Kaiju Wars, as a matter of fact.  But enough about me.  We must rest up for the coming battle."

"What's the rush?" asked Fudge.  "We've destroyed the production plant for the X-Box version of G:DAMM.  I'm sure we've set this Khawlal back a few months.  Why don't we rest and strategize?"

Black16 clenched his fists.  His blue flame-like eyes grew in intensity.  "This was all a set-up.  It was never their intention to port the X-Box version of G:DAMM.  You've been sent on a wild goose chase."  The agents looked quite surprised.  Fury was the first to speak.  "You're kidding, right?  If this was a trap, then what do they have planned?"

"I wasn't sure about it at first, but it has recently been confirmed that G:DAMM will be ported to the PS2.  With a larger market, they can mass-produce an entire army in a shorter amount of time.  We've got to stop them before the Kaiju Wars begin anew!"
