THE THREE KEYS
Part One: The Key of Spirit

Chapter Five: Tricks and Traps

Fury and the stranger stared out into the snowy wilderness.  They looked at each momentarily, and Fury was wary about the stranger's accusations.  As if the mysterious man could read Fury's thoughts, he quickly pulled back his hood.  Fury marveled at the sight he saw standing before him.

The stranger smiled at Fury.  His face was identical in every way to Fury's, with the exception of his hair and eye color.  Whereas Fury's eyes and hair were brighter as though lit by fire, the stranger's coloration was sky blue.  'We are twins, you and I," he said.  "My name is Khalm, and your destiny is my own."  Khalm started to walk towards the woods.  "Follow me.  There is much you have to learn."  The two brothers headed deep into the forest of snow-covered trees.  After a while, they came to a small makeshift house made of lumber.  "This is our birthplace, Fury," said Khalm.  "Go inside and take a look."

The Agents were deep in the temple.  Strange hieroglyphics covered the walls of each room.  G64 spent much of his time attempting to read the ancient writing, but he was still stuck on a strange symbol: a pair of flames, one blue and the other red, which intertwined around an oval object.  "What the hell is this symbol?  I know that these ancient symbols are here to tell a story, but I don't get this weird symbol."

GWB took a closer look.  "Looks like a couple of flames surrounding an egg."  Drag shook his head.  "We know that, ass.  We want to know what it MEANS."  Suddenly a light flickered on in front of the Agents.  "We know EXACTLY what it means," said a familiar voice.  It was Dracatron.  He was standing on a strange pedestal, and Rex was next to him.  "Behind this pedestal is a secret entrance to the main chamber.  Inside, we will find the Wyrm Jade!  However," Drac said with a smile as he looked at Rex, "You won't be joining us."  Rex hit a switch on the nearby wall, and the Agents fell down a slide into a large, empty chamber.

"Where the hell are we?" yelled GWB.  Fudge looked around.  "Hmmm... this weird smell can only mean one thing.  It's a tomb!"  Deathwing noticed something sparkling out of the corner of his eye.  He ran towards the disturbance and was shocked to find what appeared to be a stone coffin.  Deathwing noticed that ancient Draconian was written on the coffin.  "Here lies Orloch, Avatar of Light.  May he rest forever in peace as long as the sands of time flow."

Deathwing knelt down beside the coffin, lost in thought.  Suddenly, the tomb shook, and the coffin lid began to slide off.  Deathwing backed up as Drag looked around in fear.  "What in the hell is this all about?!"  A deep voice beckoned to the Agents.  "The time has come for the test."  A weird ball of energy left the coffin and spread out, trapping the Agents in an odd web.  Deathwing was left untouched.  The voice began again.  "Descendant of Orloch, prepare for your test."

Deathwing roared in dismay.  "Test?  I know of no test!  What is this all about?!"  The ball of energy returned to the coffin, and a skeletal dragon, identical to Deathwing save for the lack of skin and muscle tissue, rose from the stone slab.  "Behold, Deathwing.  I am Orloch the Mighty, and I am your test.  Face me now, or perish here in this icy tomb!"

Fury looked around the house, and his memory began to return to him.  He picked up a picture of his parents.  In the corner of the frame was a crack, and Fury placed the picture face down after a moment of reflection.  Tears welled up in his eyes.  "Where are they?" he asked softly.  "Where are our parents?"

Khalm walked into the room.  "Lost to the elements," he said.  "They sent you off to find your destiny, but they didn't know you would wind up back here.  After a few years, they died of pneumonia, and I was left to fend for myself."  Fury turned to his brother.  "I'm sorry.  I'm sorry you had to deal with this."  Khalm shook his head.  "Don't be.  It wasn't your fault.  But come now, it's time to go."  Fury looked alarmed.  "Time to go?  What do you mean?"  Khalm smiled.  "We will meet again, brother, and I promise you that all will be revealed.  Meet me in London, and you will find your destiny."

Without warning, the house disappeared, and Fury was alone.  Next to him was Awsome 1's tent.  The only thing he could hear was the whistling of the wind through the cold air.
