THE THREE KEYS
Part One: The Key of Spirit

Chapter 5: Museum Escapade

"What the hell are we looking for anyway?  I don't know what the Key even looks like!" Rex growled as he walked past an art gallery.  Dracatron was slightly ahead of him.  He stopped and turned around.  "The Key of Body is shaped like a coiled snake.  It was found in ancient Egypt 30 years ago, and it's now in the Egyptian exhibit here in the museum.  Now quit dilly-dallying and let's go!"

Suddenly they heard a loud crash in the next room.  Drac and Rex warily turned the corner to find... Galex, who had just knocked over an ancient vase.  DaRokSez hovered next to him.  "You oafish brute!  Why don't you watch where you're going?!"  He turned to see Drac and Rex laughing.  "You can't take him anywhere, can you?" Drac said.  "Now where did you two come from, eh?"  DaRokSez hovered over to the broken vase and used his powers to fix the pieces.  "Omni sent us here as back-up.  Take Galex with you and cover the south end of the museum.  Someone else is here with us.  I found a couple of dead guards."  Rex smiled.  "Oh, that was my doing.  I got a little hungry."

DaRokSez looked angrily at him.  "It could not have been you.  These bodies were skewered and sucked bone-dry!  Now keep an eye out for anything suspicious.  Our asses are on the line here!"  With that, he turned and headed in the opposite direction.  Rex looked at Galex.  "Is he always such a hard-ass?" he asked.  The giant nodded and started walking towards the south.  Drac and Rex followed suit as eight eyes stared at the three from the ceiling.

When the coast was clear, Spyder dropped from the ceiling.  He was wearing a trench coat to conceal himself.  "They're on to me.  I musssst act quickly," he rasped.  He climbed up on the wall again and headed in another direction.

"How are we going to get past the security system?" Deathwing asked as the agents neared the main entrance.  UG90 stepped in front of the Draconian.  "Let's try my remote now."  He pressed the red button, and the red lights strafing the main hall of the museum went out.  Ness breathed a sigh of relief.  "The damn thing works finally!"

The agents moved forward, coming up to the guard desk.  Blood was everywhere.  "They've been here just recently," said GWB.  "We've got to move faster if we want to get that Key!"  The agents began to run, not noticing an odd gray cloud appearing from behind them.  The cloud began to take on a physical appearance: that of a samurai with his head lowered to the ground as if perpetually saddened.  He looked up for just a moment.  "The oni is here," he said in a low but compelling voice.  "I must act quickly."  Moments later, he turned into the cloud of smoke and disappeared.

Fury, meanwhile, had entered the side of the building.  He looked around momentarily.  Suddenly, his eyes caught sight of a mysterious figure, the same one who beckoned him to follow earlier.  It was Khalm.

"So nice of you to join me.  Now I can tell you of your destiny."  Khalm and Fury walked together down a long hall.  "What is my purpose, brother?"  Fury asked.  "Why am I here?"  Khalm stopped and smiled.  "Your goal is the same as my own.  We must awaken Bagan.  We must stop the agents before it is too late."  Fury looked confused.  "Wait... my goal is to stop the awakening, not help it along!"  Khalm smiled again.  "You are confused, brother.  Allow me to explain.

"Ages ago, Daneasaur freed Bagan, but he needed the assistance of two brothers who shared a spiritual bond.  With the brothers using their energy to call forth the monster, Daneasaur was able to free the beast from its slumber.  We are the reincarnated souls of those brothers.  Now, however, things have changed slightly.  We must charge the Three Keys with our spiritual energy so that they will unlock Bagan's egg of imprisonment.  Soddom wishes to save this world, not change it.  The planet is destined to fall shortly, and Soddom is the only one who can save it!  Would I lie to you?"

Khalm stared at Fury, with a strange gleam in his eye.  Fury's face changed to a smile.  "I understand.  Let's get that Key!"  He began to walk again as Khalm smiled from behind.  His eyes glowed an odd yellow color as he started to laugh out loud, but held it back.  "I'm glad you see it my way," he said.
