THE THREE KEYS
Part Three: The Key of Mind

Chapter 7: Corpsefire's Last Laugh

The gray mist took the form of a samurai warrior, his head staring at the ground in shame.  Dracatron turned and saw the Fallen Warrior, and his eyes grew wide and frightened.  The samurai looked up, and in a relaxed tone spoke to the demon residing within Dracatron's very soul.

"Come out of there, demon.  Your time has come.  You must join your ilk in the eternal void."  He unsheathed his sword and pointed it at Dracatron's chest.  "Release the mortal from your vile clutches!"

Dracatron opened his mouth to speak, but a fiery red vapor flew out and hovered in the air.  Drac's eyes rolled to the back of his head and he dropped to the ground.  The red vapor became solid and took the form of a mutilated corpse, with fire burning from every orifice.  With a bony hand, Corpsefire unsheathed a twisted sword.  "You shall not add me to your list of captured souls!" he yelled as he charged at Fallen Warrior.

Deathwing and Rex rolled around on the floor, biting and clawing at each other.    "Hand over those Keys," Deathwing growled as he attempted to grab them from Rex's hands.  "Never," the reptilian growled back, pushing Deathwing away.  Suddenly, the two combatants were lifted in the air.

"What's going on?" Deathwing asked, unable to move.  Rex snarled back, "It's Omni!"  Indeed, Omni was using some sort of telekinetic ability to hold Rex and Deathwing in place.  "I'm sorry, but those Keys belong with the Garai Tai."  He motioned for the Keys to leave Rex's hands, and they flew right into Omni's pocket.  He looked at Deathwing with sadness in his face.  Then his eyes narrowed, and Deathwing puts his hands to his temples.  "Argh!" he yelled, but to no avail.  In seconds, Deathwing stopped struggling as his arms went limp to his sides.  Omni threw his body into a wall and it slumped to the floor.

Rex laughed with an insane glee.  "Good, you've killed him!  Now put me down!"  Omni put Rex down, but he dropped him on his posterior.  "I did not kill him," Omni responded.  "I simply overtaxed his mind.  We'll be long gone before he wakes up."

-----------------------

Corpsefire swung his sword at Fallen Warrior, slamming the blade down as hard as he could at his foe.  The samurai spirit blocked the attack and pushed back.  Corpsefire threw a fireball in Fallen Warrior's face and knocked away his sword.  With a kick, the demon sent the samurai to the ground.  He stepped on the avenging spirit's chest as he readied his sword for the killing blow.  "You are going to the eternal void, not me!" Corpsefire yelled.

Fallen Warrior turned his body into a mist.  The vapor swirled around a few meters behind Corpsefire and reformed.  The demon turned to his foe and charged at him.  Fallen Warrior stood still, his face still staring at the ground.  At the last moment, he slashed his sword at Corpsefire and both fighters turned into a cloud of smoke.  They reformed at opposite sides of the battlefield.  Corpsefire turned to face the Fallen Warrior.  "You missed!" he laughed.  Suddenly, his body began to convulse.  "What... is happening?" he asked in alarm.  With a roar, Corpsefire's body turned to fire and flew into Fallen Warrior's blade.  The samurai put away his sword and turned to Dragitron, who was clutching his brother's body.  "His soul has been cleansed.  He will awaken shortly."

The Fallen Warrior began to walk away, but he stopped when Samrong confronted him.  "Your time has come as well, evil one.  Alas, I will not be the one to end your miserable existence."  Samrong withdrew the Sword of the Damned, but Fallen Warrior became a gray mist once again and disappeared.
