The 5000th World Kaiju ARena Tournament
A Prelude to the "Three Keys Trilogy"

Round One

Ness vs. Centurion

The two combatants walked to the observation pods.  One wore old golden gladiator armor, reminiscent of the Roman Empire.  The other wore a white tank top and tattered blue jeans.  His eyes were pure white, with spiky hair adorning the top of his head and a faint brown beard on his chin.  Muscles bulged everywhere on his body.

The gladiator looked at his opponent.  "You are just another muscle head, unworthy of my talents," he scoffed.  The bigger man laughed, his arms crossed over his chest.  "Halloween's been over for months now, pal.  Lose the get-up."

"Ladies and gentlemen, the man in the costume is Centurion, and his opponent is Ness, the strongest avatar alive!  The box is locked, the lights are on, and it's KAIJU FIGHTIN' TIME!!!"  The crowd roared as the announcer began the contest.

A rumbling sound shook the arena, and the enormous form of the insect god Megalon erupted from under the ground.  "Megalon is gonna tear you to pieces," smirked Ness.  An elephantine roar filled the battleground as the flying Guardian of the Universe, Gamera, arrived.  "The kaiju of justice, the monster of peace, Gamera, will defeat you, Ness!" shouted Centurion proudly.  The monsters stared at each other, measuring up the opposition.  Megalon made the first move.

Charging at Gamera, the giant roach slammed his drill arms onto the turtle's shell, sending Gamera to the floor.  As Megalon approached, Gamera pulled his arms and legs inside his shell and started up his jets.  Spinning around like a top, Gamera knocked Megalon over and flew into the air.  Megalon returned to his feet, only to be bowled over by Gamera who happened to charge right into the insect.  Gamera returned to the sky and trumpeted his war cry.  A plasma fireball flew from his mouth, landing hard on Megalon's chest and sending the god into a building.

Gamera landed, searching the area for his foe.  The ground erupted from underneath him, and a pair of drills pulled Gamera under.  The sounds of a titanic struggle shook the arena, and then all was still.  After a few moments of utter silence, Gamera broke the surface, gasping for air.  Dirt and blood covered his entire body, and he collapsed onto a large building.  Megalon reappeared as well, eager to finish off his foe.  Taking his drills, Megalon plunged them into Gamera's back.  The weapons broke through the shell into Gamera's flesh, and the turtle roared in pain.

Gamera then took off into the air, with Megalon still attached to him, and dove straight into the earth, causing a massive quake.  When the dust settled, both kaiju were out like a light.  As the referees began the standard ten count, Megalon stirred and got up, his legs wobbling from the force of the crash.  Gamera also rose, and pushed over the weakened Megalon.  Hobbling over to the deity, Gamera roared at Megalon's seemingly unconscious form.  At that moment, Megalon fired a napalm grenade into Gamera's maw.  Smoked fumed from the turtle's orifice and his eyes rolled back as he fell backwards.  Megalon got back up and clanged his drills in victory.

"Your winner... Megalon and Ness!"  The crowd screamed in approval.  Centurion dropped to his knees.  "No!  How could I lose to that jock?" he cried.  Ness laughed.  "I told you not to mess with me, pal.  Now go home and get some fashion sense."  He waved to the crowd and smiled.  Drag looked on in disgust.  "That guy is so arrogant and full of himself."  Fudge smiled.  "Yeah, he reminds me of someone I know."  Drag shot a glare at Fudge.  "What the hell is that supposed to mean?!"
