THE WAR OF FATE

Part One: The Resurrection

Chapter Eight: History Repeats

The bustling streets of Beijing were filled with the sounds of people walking and talking.  A mother crossed the street with her young son.  A newspaper stand was crowded with patrons who desperately needed their morning paper.  A bus full of school children headed downtown.  Birds chirped in the morning sky.

Suddenly, the birds stopped.  An enormous shadow fell over the city, causing everyone to look up.  A cloud of dark energy hissed and crackled as it covered the landscape.  A hush fell over the crowd as they stood wondering what they were dealing with.  Then their wonder and amazement turned to horror and despair.

The cavern shook vigorously as thousands of Garai Tai struggled to escape the underground cave.  Rex, Dracatron, Spyder, DaRokSez, and Galex ran towards the exit as Omni held Black16 in place and Fury sat idly by, entranced by some unknown force.  The agents high-tailed it out of the cave as enormous rocks dropped from the ceiling.  Samrong laughed as he finished the ritual.  "It is done!  Bagan has been freed, and he shall listen only to me!"

Omni released his hold on Black16 and headed outside with Fury and Samrong.  Black16 shook his head in shame.  "It is too late.  The end of the world is nigh."  In a flash of light he disappeared, only to reappear outside of the cave with the agents.  "What the hell is going on?" G64 asked Black16.  The entity stood silently.  "Bagan has been released, and now the world is under the very whim of Samrong," replied Fudge.  Suddenly a beam of black energy shot straight through the cave entrance and headed for the cloud of energy hovering over Beijing.  "It issssss happening again," hissed Spyder in delight as he and his fellow Six Eyes entered the Garula.

Once inside, Samrong ordered his troops to take off and stay as far from Beijing as possible.  The agents followed suit, not only to follow the Garai Tai, but because they too were unsure of what to expect.

---------------------

The people of Beijing looked up at the swirling mass of doom many meters above them.  The cloud flashed and crackled as though it were a thunderstorm.  Suddenly, a bubble of pure energy descended from the cloud and splashed onto the city.  The drops of black liquid came together to form a bipedal reptilian shape.  Three horns adorned the creature's head, and its body was covered in bony plates.  Spikes jutted out of the monster's shoulders, back, knees, and elbows.  The form solidified into the eternal beast known as Abbadon the Destroyer.

       Bagan had returned.

The populace ran for cover as Bagan shook the earth with a blood-curdling roar.  The monster turned in the direction of the Garula as the warship hovered silently some distance away.  Bagan nodded as though answering an unheard command.  He turned back and gave his full attention to the city.  Opening his mouth, Bagan let loose a ray of energy that obliterated three buildings in a row.

Bagan knew what to do.  It was time to pass judgment on this world.  It was time for the universe to begin anew.

And he was the one to do it.
