THE WAR OF FATE

Part One: The Resurrection

Prologue

The gateway began to glow.

Abbadon looked at the doorway to Earth's dimension as it began to flash in many exotic colors.  He had seen this before.  Every 5,000 years, Bagan the Destroyer was freed from a pocket dimension to carry out the will of his master, the one who set him loose.

However, the last time he was set free, things had changed.  Five mere mortals had sent him back to this dimension before he could complete his task.  The Avatars of Light defeated his master and returned Bagan to his confinement.

The gateway glowed brighter.

Bagan roared into the sky.  His jail was a beautiful meadow, populated my millions of creatures that would sustain him for millennia.  But Abbadon hungered for freedom.  His last job was interrupted, and he aimed to fulfill his mission this time around.

He stomped casually over to the magical seal containing his presence.  The gateway glowed so bright that he had to shield his eyes.  He punched the seal as hard as he could, but nothing happened.  His time had not come just yet.

The glow of the gateway died down.

Bagan stared intently at the seal.  He knew the glowing was a sign to prepare himself for what awaited him on the other side.  He trudged over to a sunny spot on a hill overlooking the gateway, and laid down to rest.

Bagan would need all his strength.  He closed his eyes as he slowly drifted off to sleep.  Soon, he would return.

The time of the resurrection was at hand.
