Lavi: Israeli Lightweight Multirole Fighter
The IAI's indiginous fighter concept proposed in 1980. It was to replace the IAF's A-4 Skyhawks. IAI developed the Lavi from the ground up based on the F-16. When the Lavi project looked like it might begin to encroach on the U. S. dominated lightweight aircraft market, the U. S. decided to pull funding from the project. The Lavi was just as meneuverable as the F-16, but it could carry several thousand pounds more of weapons.
This is the B-2 model of the Lavi concepts....3 were made and flown the TD (technology demonstrator) being the last flown.....
Plans were made for an IAF single seat version of the Lavi but when funds were cut IAI had to kill the Lavi project. Recently Israel sold the left over Lavi information to China and it has been developed into the Chinese indiginous fighter J-10.
