Everyone Else: Ass-Out!
So, here we are once again in the hallowed halls of Yu-Ghett-Oh!! Some new faces in the house tonight, as this tourney is Raleigh’s best kept secret. Any more and we’ll have to start renting space! We got our brackets filled and our grub on, so now the duels can begin. We got a packed house and this week my camera is working, so let’s get it on!
Round 1
A new face in the house tonight, Tony, takes on our resident Yugi expert, Damion. This week, I hope to keep the notes shorter, we’ll see if I have any luck. Tony goes first and plays Mysterious Puppeteer in Atk. Mode to start. Damion goes in Def. mode early and soon Tony has a Skullie out and blasting through D’s def like nothing. Tony also has out a Catapult Turtle, who Reborns D’s Goblin Attack Force and sacs it for life damage. This is fast and brutal. Round 1 to Tony, 12,000LPs to 0. Dayum!!
Round 2
We have to believe that Damion is just getting warmed up after that thrashing. So D starts off in Def. and Tony goes with a Dark Zebra with a Nuzzy to attack with an Ultimate Offering. D takes the trap away and plays Jirai Gumo in attack as a wall. The Zebra goes thru Gumo and Tony plays his second Ultimate Offering. Since Zebra is all alone on the field, he goes in Def. and Damion rips him with LaJinn. Tony comes with his third Dark Zebra in a row, only to have him fall victim to a Trap Hole. But Tony isn’t finished. He uses Ult. Offering to sac his other Zebra for a Skullie and activates his Light of Intervention to stop future flips. But that ass is 1 round to late cuz Skullie attacks a Man-Eater bug and goes bye-bye. Tony plays another card face down and Damion finally gets to attack. LaJinn busts a face up Cyber Jar, now useless thanks to the Light Trap Card. Tony plays a Gearfield to KO LaJinn and Damion gets a little help from Dian Keto with 1000LP gain. Tony’s Witch of the Black Forest goes for LPs in attack mode. Damion has no choice but to pimp-slap that broad with a Goblin Attack Force, with its massive 2300 ATK!! So of course, she dies and give a nice knock onto Tony’s LPs. Tony plays Soul Exchange on the now hapless GAF and Soul Exchanges it for a Skullie. With nothing to lose, Damion Dark Holes the Skullie but has nothing to play in Def. Tony gets a break and plays a Puppeteer of his own and hits D’s LPs after adding a Gumo of his own. Damion breaks out a 7-Colored Fish and gets rid of the Puppet Man. Tony draws nothing useful, so Damion Change of Hearts his Gumo and his 7Fish for a Blue Eyes White Dragon and smacks Tony for 3000. Tony tries a Def. with a Puppeteer, but a Nimble Mongoma pushes him aside and BEWD again hits Tony. As a last-ditch effort, Tony tries to COH Baby Blue, but he only hits Damion’s Nimble and D just beats him with it the next round. So we’re tied with this round to Damion, 2000-0.
Final Round, Fight!!
Ok, we’re down to the last round. Already this Tourney is showing to be a battle of skills and wills. To start, Tony plays 7Fish with a Nuzzy and Damion plays a Bro., then COH his Fishie to go for LPs, but Tony quickly flashes a Wabuko. Tony plays a second 7Fish and the juked up one kills the Bro. and then other one goes for LPs. Damion plays in Def. now, as the 7Fish hit a few Nimbles. By now, Brian has 2x Dark Zebras to go along with the 2 7Fish and Damion only has a single def. card to bear the brunt of the attack. Tony thinks to bring out a Catapult Turtle, but its Trap Holed. Damion’s flipped ManBug hits Tony’s Cyber Jar, but after that Tony gets out a BEWD and knocks D on out the park. So this Match goes to the newcomer, Tony, 3950-0. We’ll see you in the semis!
So I, too, get a new guy to battle this week! Cool beans, whoever want suma da crown can get a whuppin’ like everyone else! Aight, new guy, let’s D-d-d-d-d-duel!
Round 1
Todd plays a Pot of Greed right off the bat and gets a few more cards. I play my Dark Zebra and his a ManBug. Tony plays a Sangan with a Nuzzy (first time I’d seen that) and hits my LPs. I play my guy, Jirai Gumo and attack, actually making the save (cool!) He Reborns Sangan and goes thru his deck. My Bro. get ‘Holed and we take a few rounds setting cards in Def. mode. Todd finally flips a ManBug to hit Gumo. I still have crap out so I’m sitting pat. He sacs for a Skullie and his monsters take out my crap-wall and Skullie goes for LPs. I only last one more round before he sacs for a Tri-Horned Dragon (man I’ve never seen one!) and then I black out. Match one Todd!
Round 2
Ok, maybe at least I can show I know what this game is about. I straight got handled that round! Ok, I’m the defending champ, so I gotta come correct! We both set cards for a few rounds, before Todd breaks out TriHorn again! It hits my ManBug (smile), but he just Reborns it. So much for that idea. I play a Typhoon on one of his traps, then Raigeki the field (smile again), then break out a Maha Vailo with an Axe of Despair, making her 3050 and hit his life points. Sweet! He Typhoons my axe and Fissures my weakest monster, currently a face-up Soldier of Stone. Tony Sacs for a Skullie to attack, but I Wabuko and buy myself a round. It was for nothing it seems and Todd’s Skullie busts my girl down, now that she’s only 1550 ATK now. Then he plays Swords of Revealing Light to help himself and stop me from attacking, even if I could. I can do nothing it seems as his monsters rip my Defense, as they can’t fight back. My last defense, a Wall of Illusion, is turned against me thanks to Todd’s Change of Heart and that sends your host out of the tournament. That is a sweep to new guy Todd. He played his ass off, I’ll give him some credit. To quote Karl, “Next time, Autobot scum!”
Beware as we have good friend John and Brandon locked in deadly combat, Yu-Ghett-Oh! Style. This is a rematch of our very first Tourney Final way back in January. So has any of the hate we saw that night carried over into this match? Hmmm…probably! I can’t wait!
Round 1
John loves his girl and plays her faithfully. So he goes for Dark Elf in attack to start. Brandon just sets a few cards down and passes his turn. John sacs for a Skullie with a Nuzzy to boot, but hits a well-placed MEB for his troubles. Brandon is still in setting in Def. and John plays yet another Dark Elf. John the breaks out a Harpie’s Bro. and hits one of Brandon’s Nimbles, but Dark Elf unluckily meets another ManBug. Brandon sacs his Nimbles for a Skullie and plays Tribute of the Doomed to get rid of Dark Elf, leaving Harpie’s Bro. to get spanked. John Fissures Skullie and goes on the Def. Brandon plays a 7Fish and hits a Wall of Illusion, but Brandon has a Reinforcements to make sure the wall gets the hell off the field. John is still in Def. while Brandon plays a 7fish that gets ‘Holed and his Ground Collapse gets Magic Drained. Brandon brings up a Darkfire Soldier that hits John’s Nimbles, but eventually gets through and ends the game. Round 1 to Brandon.
Round 2
Ok, we just getting started, I’m sure John will show us something. Brandon, however, doesn’t give him a chance as he Ground Collapses him and sets in Defense. John plays Typhoon and takes out a Trap Hole. Brandon plays a new card, Prohibition, and outlaws Fissure, but John plays Magic Jammer to stop all that. Brandon then calls up a Jinzo with an Axe of Despair and goes for John’s LPs. John can only Fissure an Armed Ninja as Brandon’s Jinzo beats him into the ground. Sorry John, but Brandon gets this one easily. Match to Brandon!
Round 1
So we have Drew with Karl ready to finish out our first round: Drew learned from his lack of knowledge on the power of Ground Collapse last week and brought some of his own to play this week. Drew GCs the original King of Collapse, Karl and plays Hintoma to get at his LPs. Karl is still in Def. when Drew flips a Hane-Hane and gets the card to jump back into Karl’s hand, but his Darkfire gets Trap Holed. Karl brings out Harpie’s Brother to kick around Hane-Hane. Drew can only muster a Goblin’s Secret Remedy as Karl calls out a second Bro. and then it just gets ugly.
Round 2
Drew tries to get his deck rolling and comes out with a Final Flame/Dian Keto combo. So he is now 1600LPs up on Karl already. Karl plays LaJinn with a Nuzzy and starts attacking. Drew’s Def. cards can’t hold out and Karl comes in with a Skullie that ends this match in a jiffy. This is just an ol’ fashioned asswhippin’ so bad, we can’t even print the rest. Match to Karl!!
Ok, so we seem to have a couple of hitmen in our ranks, here to knock off the upper crust of Yu-Ghett-Oh! While Tony and Todd did get by Damion and myself, hope still lives on the other side of the bracket, where Brandon and Karl, while bitter rivals, also get a chance to represent the “ol headz” of Yu-Ghett-Oh!-dom. Well, without much delay, lets get down to some sibling rivalry and some I-hate-you-guts action!
Well were sure these two weren’t expecting this out of their trip to the ‘hood but it seems to be a special treat for the rest of us!
Round 1
Todd goes first and sets his card down in Def. mode. Tony goes for the early Raigeki and puts down a 7Fish to hit him with, but it gets Trap Holed. Tony then tries to enact Toll, wanting to build some pressure, but it gets Magic Jammed and Todd brings out a Witch of Black Forest to try and get into his deck. Tony obliges with a Dark Hole then puts out a Sangan for Todd to return the favor. Todd stays Def. while Tony starts building cards on his side of the field. Todd calmly flips a Cyber Jar and the duo sets their monsters. Tony plays Light of Intervention to stop future flips. Todd tries to bring out a Skullie, but it gets Trap Holed and Tony shows us how its done by bringing out his own. Todd gets up a Solemn Wishes and Tony gets out a Jirai Gumo and attacks with his Skullie, but it is Wabuko’d. Little matter cuz within a few rounds, Todd beats his way to victory. Round 1 to Tony.
Round 2
Tony plays a Pot O’ Greed off top and then sets in his Magic/Trap zone. Todd drops a Wall of Illusion in attack mode (why?) and it gets Trap Holed. Uh, it gets a little hazy here, but it seems like Tony brought out a Blue Eyes and a 7Fish at the end and won it. Thanks illiterate note taker! How would we get along without you? We have a tie, folks!
Final Round, Fight!
Well its tied, so who will get their first trip to the big table? Todd is up first and he goes Def., but Tony smells blood in the water and COHearts Todd’s Def. monster for a Skullie, but it gets ‘Holed. Tony plays a Last Will and gets to bring in some Def. of his own and he tries to get in an Ultimate Offering, but it gets 7Tooled and spurts out. Finally, Todd gets a chance and Raigeki’s the field. Tony gets a 7Fish up in Atk. Mode, but it gets a big Fissure and Tony gets out a Skullie again that breaks through Todd’s defenses enough for Todd to sneak in his lesser monsters for the win. That’s match to Tony and we’ll see you at the big table, cuz!
Another grudge match from last week: Brandon Vs. Karl. I know some swear words are about to fly, so right to the action we go!
Round 1
Karl gets to go first and plays a Darkfire #2, and Brian sets up with a Ground Collapse. Karl brings up a Skullie and gets it Trap Holed, but he plays Mizchure to get rid of Brian’s monster, so bye-bye Wall of Illusion! Brandon brings out a LaJinn with a Nuzzy for LPs, and then gets Greedy with a Pot-O-Greed. Karl is shook while Brandon upgrades to a Jinzo to end this first round quickly.
Round 2
Karl goes Def. this time and Brandon gets out a Ground Collapse to start again. He COHeart’s Karl’s Ladybug and Karl unsuccessfully tries a Magic Drain, and it bears Brandon’s mighty Jinzo! Jinzo begins to attack Karl, only to hit a ManBug and get zapped. Brandon gets a Greedy Pot and then plays a LaJinn with a Nuzzy and gets Wabuko’d. Karl goes Def., but LaJinn is out on a tear. It takes a well-placed Giant Germ coupled with Mizchure to get Karl some relief. Brandon attacks with a Sangan to get rid of the Giant Germ and also Fissures the other one, so now the field is cleared. Seems like the perfect time to summon a Blue Eyes, right? Wrong!! Trap Hole, coming up! Karl reborn the BEWD for his own evil purposes and brings out a Gumo for backup, only to hit Brandon’s Labyrinth wall. Karl Despells the GCollapse. Brandon tries for a second BEWD summon, but he gets ‘Holed AGAIN, but Brandon Reborns it immediately. Karl’s Girochen hits a Wall of Ill. and his BEWD gets a Horn of Unicorn, but it is Wabuko’d to save it. Brandon plays a Nuke to clear the field, and Reborns BEWD to hit Karl’s LPs directly. Karl plucks nothing while Brandon sets a MOF up to get his Monster Reborn back and brings out a second BEWD to attack with. Yes, police? I’d like to report an accident…Match to Brandon and we have our Finalists!
Ok, we got a new guy and our first champ. Props to Brandon for being the first Yu-Ghett-Oh! Playa to make it to the finals twice! Not an easy feat, I can tell you that! Well Tony is no slouch himself, so we’ll see how this one plays out. Ready, fight!
Round 1
Tony goes bold with a LaJinn in attack mode, rare move these days! Brandon shows us why as he Soul Exchanges LaJinn for a Skullie, but has to forgo his attack round. Tony brings out a second LaJinn equipped with a Horn of Unicorn, making his Atk. power equal to Skullie’s, then Change of Hearts Skullie and attacks Brandon’s Life Points, for a whopping 5000LP damage. Brandon spits out a few teeth on that one and give his Skullie a Nuzzy to get past LaJinn and give his own LaJinn an upgrade with his own damn Nuzzy and gets to hit Tony back with a 3200LP hit of his own. So now it’s bloody on both sides. Tony counters by bring out his Harpies Bro with a Nuzzy and a Horn of Uni. To beat down Skullie and everything Brandon manages to get out for the next 2 rounds until Brandon removes Bro. with a Fissure and his LaJinn gets 2 free rounds of attack. A quick but violent Round 1 to Brandon!
Round 2
Tony and Brandon both play LaJinns, only difference is that Brandon’s get ‘Holed! So Brandon Reborns LaJinn with a Nuzzy to attack, but Tony also has a Wabuko handy. It must be the Equip Match of the year cuz’ Tony enters a LaJinn with 2x Nuzzy and goes to work. Brandon sets a Def. monster that Tony discovers is a Nimble, which turns into more Nimbles very easily. Still LaJinn presses until it hits a Wall of Illusion and he cannot afford to pay 1000 LPs and lose two draws for the Nuzzys to come back. Tony resets the same LaJinn, just as Brandon tries to bring out a Skullie, he gets Trap Holed. Still, Brandon drops a Nuke on the field to clear things out. Tony brings out a Puppeteer to get some LPs up, and then gets out a Blue Eyes and Soul Exchanges Brandon’s Witch of Black Forest to get a Summon Skull. The next round is nothing nice as Tony unleashes the terror. Round 2 to Tony and we’re tied!
Final Round, Fight!
So we had 2 brutal rounds of raw Yu-Ghett-Oh! action, who will emerge victorious from this week’s Tourney?
Tony goes with a Harpie’s Bro. in Atk. mode, while Brandon plays face down. Tony gets a Dark Zebra out for company, but they hit a grouping of Nimbles on Brandon’s side. Brandon tries to get out a LaJinn, but it gets ‘Holed. Tony sacs for a Skullie and goes on the attack. Brandon plays his signature card, Tribute of the Doomed and hits Skullie across the lip with it. Tony hits a facedown card, ManBug, which snipes a Cyber Jar with its killing effect. Brandon gets some Def. up, but Tony busts out a Raigeki to clear the field and his Dark Zebra gets to hit some LPs. Brandon can’t defend as a Harpie’s Bro and Sangan come up to finish our Tourney this week, with a win to our first-time playa, Tony! Congrats goes to him and his victory. And to the victor, our spoils of 4 Booster packs await!
Till next time, stay Yu-Ghett-Oh!
