Final Fantasy 9
General/Summary: WOW...squaresoft has done it again. Not only that, they have raised the bar of role-playing games...for those of you who have loved the old FF's (like FF4, 5, 6, 7, 8) this game is a must buy. Even though the settings have returned to its fantasy roots (like FF6) those who liked the sci fi element of FF7 and FF8 won't be dissapointed. The other difference from FF7 and 8 is that there are more MAIN characters (as opposed to 'cloud' and 'squall') (kinda like FF6...) overall, this is another masterpiece from square.Gameplay: The gameplay is like the other 2 PS final fantasies: the ATB....and it suits this verison fine. in the beginning, you kinda get the feeling that the bar fills up soooo SLOW, but it does get better, and you dont even notice the speed after a while. The gameplay is great, and if you liked FF6 (FF3 in the US) you'll definetly like this one. The game is easy to get into, and any role playing fan will enjoy the complex system that makes up FF9.
Graphics: The graphics are the best ever, period. This is the most breathtaking FF so far. The enviorments look crisp, and nothing really looks super-blurred. The details on the levels and the characters are also very sharp, and as you progress through the game, you get treated to a lot of eye-candy...the many locations in the game juss look awesome.
Sound: the music is great, just what you'd expect from Nobuo Uematsu. The sound is breathtaking, as it fits the mood perfectly (somethimes u dont even notice it, it kinda sinks in your head...like the feeling you get when you play resident evil...but a happier mood). The only complaint i have is the sound effects. Contrasting the brilliant musical score, the sound effects seem a bit below average, but everything else is so great that you easily let that one slip by...
