Sonic the Hedgehog

First appearing on the Genesis about ten years ago, this blue hedgehog has gone on numerous adventures. Sonic often has to go out of his way to defeat the twisted Dr. Robotnic. Sonic seems to have an unhealthy obsession with gold rings for some odd reason. Sonic is known for being the fastest hedgehog alive.


Strategy: Sonic relies on his speed score. If the hedgehog gets trapped in the corner, then he is basically screwed. The Spin Dash attacks can be good to get out of the corner.
Combos:
  • Chain Combo, Buzzsaw or Spin Crash
  • Launcher, Aerial Saw or Tail's Hurricane
    Similar To: Blanka

    Stats: Power: 4 Energy: 5 Defense: 4 Speed*: 8 Ratio: 2

    Special Moves:
    Buzzsaw*: Rolling into a ball, Sonic charges into the enemy.
    Aerial Saw*: Like the buzzsaw, except Sonic flies up at a 60 degree angle
    Tail's Rings*: Tails brings Sonic some rings, which cause him to heal.
    Rings Drop: Sonic falls backward, while 5 rings fly out of him. (B)
    Ring Shield: The next hit to Sonic causes no damage.
    Launcher: Rolls into a ball for a short ranged hopping attack
    Hyper Attacks:
    Spin Crash*: A stronger version of the Buzzsaw. Hits up to 16 times
    Tail's Hurricane: Sonics grabs Tails feet and Tails creats a small tornado (B)
    Super Sonic: Turns Yellow and raises his power and defense by 3 points. Last 10 secs

    Enter: Spin Dashs in
    Taunt: Sonic runs in place for a while
    Victory: Runs off the edge of the screen and runs in on the other. Repeat

  • Knuckles

    Knuckles is also a speed, spiny little creature. During his first appearence, he appears to be an enemy of Sonic, but before long he began to seem more like Sonic's partner (Poor Tails). Knuckles has Sonic's buzzsaw abilites and can also perform fist first glide attacks.


    Strategy: See Sonic, above.
    Combos:
  • Chain Combo, Air Dash Punch or Spin Crash
  • Sweep Combo, Spin Crash
  • Launcher, Aerial Dash or Robotnic Cannon
    Similar To: Blanka, Sonic

    Stats: Power*: 7 Energy: 5 Defense: 4 Speed: 6 Ratio: 2

    Special Moves:
    Air Dash Punch*: Knuckles glides forward to punch the enemy
    Aerial Dash*: Like Dash Punch, but glides almost straight up.
    Bubble Shield*: The next attack does not hurt. If a non-fire projectile hits, its reflected (W)
    Wall Climb: Knuckles also has the ability to climb up walls.
    Tail's Rings: Tails gives Knuckles rings to heal him.
    Launcher: From crouching, rolls into a ball and spikes poke up for his back
    Hyper Attacks:
    Spin Crash: Buzzsaw cuts forward and then flys in a upward arc. 16 hits
    Robotnic Cannon*: A couple of cannons land in front of knuckles and fire. 20 hits (F)
    Spiny Burst: Must be in the air. Knuckles spins and shoots spikes in all directions. Up to 10 hits per target.

    Enter: Glides onto screen
    Taunt: Smooths the spikes that form his hair
    Victory: Turns into a yellow SUPER KNUCKLES!

  • Wren

    The cyborg gunner of the Phantasy Star series. Wren never goes far without a very large cannon strapped to his shoulder. He is also capable in the area of chi magic.


    Strategy: Considering the size of his gun, it shouldn't be a surprise that Wren is best off away from the enemy. Use the projectile attacks to counter the enemies movements as best as possible
    Combos:
  • Sweep Combo, Rumbling Earth
    Similar To: Iron Man, War Machine, Thanos

    Stats: Power: 3 Energy*: 7 Defense: 6 Speed: 4 Ratio: 2

    Special Moves:
    Wren Cannon*: Fires a large shot from his cannon (S)
    Reflector*: Non-Hyper projectiles will bounce of the reflector barrier
    Chi-Beam*: Fires a beam of holy energy at a 45 degree angle (H)
    Homing Missile: Wren fires a slow moving homing missle from his cannon (S)
    Laser Fire: A burst of fire travels along the ground (F)
    Launcher: Swings his fist up, bringing up a burst of rocks with it (E)
    Hyper Attacks:
    Mecha Cannon*: Fires a large stream of energy. Similar to Proton Cannon. 26 hits (S)
    Rumbling Earth: Chucks of stone rise from the ground. Up to 18 hits (E)
    Mecha Missiles: Shoots 14 homing missiles (S)

    Enter: A group of monsters are hanging around and Wren guns them down
    Taunt: Raises his arm in victory(?)
    Victory: The taunt again

  • Nights

    A clown-like creature formed from the dreams of a brother and sister. Nights is a weird thing that can fly through rings. What is with Sega and rings anyways? Plus, I'll apologize now for the Hyper attack name.


    Strategy: This guy plays as weird as the back story. Staying in the middle distance is best, but many of Nights' attacks cause him/her to move forward slightly, making it difficult to stay far enough away

  • Chain Combo, Ring Shock or Night Hoop
  • Launcher, Air Combo, Lord of the Rings or Flight Throw
    Similar To: Rouge

    Stats: Power: 4 Energy*: 6 Defense: 5 Speed: 5 Strength: P Weakness: E Ratio: 2

    Special Moves:
    Ring Shock*: Throws a spinning ring as a projectile (B)
    Ring Spin*: Jumps upward with a ring around Nights like a hula-hoop
    Dream Dive*: Flies upward, then goes into a dive bomb
    Flight Throw: Grab at the enemy (C) and slam them into the ceiling
    Nights has the ability to fly (Did you guess that?)
    Launcher: Falls backward into a handstand position
    Hyper Attacks:
    Lord of the Rings*: Flies forward with ring in front of him. 12 hits. (A,B)
    Night Hoop: Nights throws a group of 15 rings forward at various angles (B)
    Juggler Flip: Does upward moving backflip kicks. 18 hits(A)

    Taunt: Turns into Christmas Nights
    Victory: A ring spins around him, turns into Christmas Nights

  • Shadow

    An evil hedgehog working for Dr. Robotnik in Sonic Adventure 2. Shadow is a match for Sonic in every way, except he is pure evil. If Shadow can find the Chaos Emeralds for Robotnik, he will have proven to himself that he is better than Sonic.


    Strategy: His main if not only advantage is his incredible speed. If the enemy can catch Shadow in the corner, its all over.

  • Chain Combo, Chaos Spear or Speed Mark
  • Sweep Combo, Burrow Attack
  • Time Stop or Hydro Power, Any Combo or Hyper, except another Time Stop
    Similar Fighters: Sonic, Knuckles, Tails, Blanka

    Special Moves:
    Racing Shot*: Jumps straight up, then dashes forward in a spiky ball.
    Hip Drop: Jumps up and forward, then drops straight down with an elbow drop.
    Burrow Attack*: Dives underground, pops up with an attack from under the ground
    Hydro Power*: Throws a bubble that traps the enemy with it for a few seconds (W)
    Basic Throw: Puts a ring on the enemy, snaps his fingers and it bursts
    Bonus Abilities: Air Dash, Wall Bounce
    Launcher: A forward moving flip kick
    Hyper Attacks:
    Chaos Spear*: Snaps his fingers and spears of energy fly at the enemy from all directions. 14 hits (D)
    Speed Mark: Dashes across the screen in an instant (C) enemy flies up, and Shadow runs around the world, hitting them again on the way down
    Time Stop: If the enemy is not blocking, they are frozen in place for 4 seconds.

    Enter: Skids down a ramp
    Taunt: Snaps his fingers and points at the enemy
    Victory: The pose in the picture above

  • Axel

    A street fighter from the Streets of Rage series. Axel and Blaze take it upon themselves to fight against the gangs that threaten their city. Alex is a well-rounded warrior, with the ability to imbue his punches with fire.


    Strategy: Even though most of his moves are combos in and of themselves, it is hard to combo his moves together into long combos. Axel has good moves, but some are hard to land and he doesn't have any statistical strengths or weaknesses, making him kind of boring to play.
    Combos:
  • Chain Combo, Raging Fists or Dragon Fist or Fire Rotor
  • Chain Combo, Launcher, Air Combo, Dragon Fist

    Raging Fists*: Dashes forward, rapid punching, ending with a jumping uppercut. Up to 9 hits (F)
    Flaming Punch*: A punch up and forward that sends a spike of fire into the air. 3 hits (F)
    Fist of the Dragon*: Does a circular shaped punch with his fist in the shape of a flaming dragon. 2 hits (A)(F)
    Judo Throw: During a normal throw, use the Judo throw for more damage.
    Crush Axel: Hops back, followed by a short dash and a double fist attack.
    Basic Throw: Slams the enemy straight down while hopping back
    Launcher: Basic uppercut
    Hyper Attacks:
    Fire Rotor*: Does 3 Dragon Fist specials, followed by a jumping uppercut. 10 hits (F)
    Rage of the Street: Dashes forward (C) for a combo ending in Raging Fists. 14 hits.
    Breath of the Dragon: Does a Dragon Fist, followed by a huge projectile-like punch. 5 hits (F)

    Enter: Charges up, gaining fire energy.
    Taunt: Punches the ground in anger
    Victory: Does an uppercut that sends a wave of fire upward

  • Blaze

    Axel's partner. Blaze is as dedicated to cleaning up the city streets as Axel is, she just does it with a more stylish look.


    Strategy: Even with her blazing speed, Blaze is actually more of a defensive fighter. Reverse Breaker in particular is only good against enemies who are really close or charging. Likewise, the Zipper Kick is hard to hit with unless the enemy is not in a position to block (such as charging).
    Combos:
  • Chain Combo, Wind Shot or Silent Breeze or Sonic Slice
  • Sweep Combo, Sonic Slice or Blazing Heel
  • Chain Combo, Launcher, Air Combo (optional), Sonic Aerial

    Blazing Heel*: Does 3 backflips while moving forward. 10 hits (B)

    Sonic Aerial: Jumps up and forward repeatedly doing backflip kicks. 10 hits (A)

    Enter: A gust of wind comes up, blowing her skirt.

    Victory: Performs a citizen's arrest on the enemy
