April
18-20, 2001 : Emerging Voices
This
year's Emerging Voices class put on a wonderful production. Showing
acting, writing, and digital savvy (the production began with
a powerpoint introduction),
Emerging
Voices addressed real, high school issues such as racial diversity,
social diversity,
eating
disorders, handicaps,
homosexuality,
suicide,
and ostracism.
Bringing
together students and faculty on one stage is a wonderful idea.
Having students write and direct each of the scenes lend the production
it's realism. Mr. Cooke, the class teacher and play producer,
is talking with the people in the ASB about putting on more shows
in more schools to get these positive messages out.
Congratulations
and good luck!
