BVHS
Drama 2001 Spring Show:
Class Action
My
apologies for the pictures coming out so badly. I was
too busy clapping to focus!
This
year's BV Drama show was Class Action. At first, I had
apprehensions about this play because it is written as
a collection of vingnettes. However, with the actors,
quality of acting, and the original transitions of this
year's Spring cast, the play turned out wonderful.
Xavi
is one of the actors returning to stage this year. Here,
he is joined by Rea, a newcomer.
I
was also a little worried that there were so many new
faces. It turns out that I ended up regretting not having
any more chances to share the stage with these people.
One
big stage of newcomers. Okay, not really. Everyone is
new here except for Nate on the far right.
I
have the pleasure of being in an advanced drama class
with Gabe and Jheramie. They're two great people and two
great actors. Gabe is a total natural on stage; he cracks
me up. Jhey is a singer, songwriter, musician, and and
(now) an actress!
Rea
and Heath worked hard for the pictured scene. I heard
a lot of actors' obstacles had to be overcome to pull
this one through.
"Class
Action" used many stage techniques such as the stop-time
gimmick featured in this scene. Mark and Xavi struck many
humorous poses in this scene. The script was generally
bare with stage directions. The innovations came directly
from the minds of the students in the production.
Although
humor was an everpresent element throughout the play,
"Class Action" was not devoid of meaning. (Am
I sounding intelligent yet? Anyways...) The plots dealt
with broken families, gun control, sex, drugs, and diversity.
Mark
receives a special shout-out for being the gem that he
is. Mark making it into "Class Action" was probably
in accordance to some prophesy. He will keep the BV Thespian
Troupe going strong for the 2001-2002 year. I hope to
visit BV next year and see him on stage.
"Class
Action" was the highlight of my week. I always enjoy
BV plays, but this production is among the best.
