Wow, it has been a looong time. Sorry no updates after the Farewell concert, things got hectic with school and stuff. So, I (Sam) went to the University of Vermont and Dave went to the University of Maine in Orono. Things have been going well, classes rock, people are great, life is good in general. No new bands yet, I have been recording some songs by myself, and I think Dave has been writing. We talked about starting up Light Saber again this summer, and we want to get Jared to be in it too, so look forward to that! Umm, ALumni Talent Show at Noble? That would be sweet! Okay, I guess I will go now, just a quick update, and probably more updates every few weeks or months, who knows! see ya!

August 19, 2002
Farewell concert tomorrow on August 20th. Sorry for the short notice, but we hope you can be there. It's at Dave's house, starts around 7 PM, not sure if Jared is playing yet, we want him too, but it is very short notice. Not sure if anyone is going, but it will probably be videotaped. Umm, s'gonna be a good time. Oldies, Newies, Favs, Hats, everything. BE THERE! Dave's house, 7:00 PM, Light Saber, Compost Shark, maybe Jared if we can get in touch with him! It's free like always, and if you show up, you just might get some free Compost Shark cds! Peace!

Hey, this is Sam. I was just at our mp3.com site, checking out our stats and stuff, some guy added us to a new mp3.com radio station, and that is cool to me! I also found out that a few of our other songs have reached the 'Top Twenty Club' on the folk-punk charts at mp3.com! The first was 'shirty', way back in March 2001, which had a 4 day run in the top 40, starting at 16, peaking at 15, back to 16, and then 20. The next one was 'Applesauce' which I think got up to 16 just this July 2002. And the biggest surprise to me was to find that 'Homeless in Hawaii' made it up to 15 early this month! I think that is kind of weird because we have NEVER played it live, but oh well, still groovy. Dave and I practiced a little bit this week, I think when we finally schedule the Farewell to College concerts, they will be lots of fun, so you should make sure to go! There will be the oldest of the old played, the newest of the new, Dave solo songs, Sam solo songs, Light Saber, Sloth and Indolence, and so much fun you can't even THINK about shaking a stick at it. So you guys better be there, we will tell you when and where soon! Peace for now!

July 24, 2002
Hey! I just got back from seeing Eep Opp Anonymous at The Sad Cafe with Dave. It was awesome, and The Sad Cafe is a totally sweet place! I contacted the booking person to see if we could play any shows before we leave for college in late August (August 23rd - Sam, August 30 - Dave). It is in Plaistow, NH, which is a drive, but only about 45 minutes, and it is really easy to find because you just have to follow 125 south for a while. But yea, as soon as we find out if we can play there a few times or not, we will let you know, and I would really love it if some of you guys could go!!! Okay, updates coming soon!

July 19, 2002
Well, let's see. I am going to college on August 23rd. I am not sure when Dave is going, but he is in Pennsylvania right now. I am tired. Too much work? probably not enough sleep instead. I will update later, but now I am going to eat.

May 26, 2002
My name is Sam. We played the concert on Friday the 24th, it was a lot of fun! Eep Opp Anonymous and That's What She Said really rocked the house, and we had a great time opening up for them! Umm, we got a cd of our set at the Right Attitudes show we played on August 11th, 2001, and if you need a copy, I can make you one. It has got 17 tracks on it, and it is pretty good quality, so just let me know. Dave and I went to see Eep Opp Anonymous again on Saturday the 25th at Somersworth Night Live, which was pretty sweet. They rock! We have a goal for the summer and that is to play as many shows as possible up until we have to leave for college! If you know of anywhere we can play, just let us know! I watched the Spinal Tap movie yesterday, and that was pretty neat too! Does anyone want to come over? see ya!
-Sam

Hi, this is Sam. I just got back from snowboarding all day, it was awesome, I love my friends. Ok, so we played a show with the Small Brain Curds and Craig Werth last night at Noble High School. It was a lot of fun, we had a grand ole time! Thanks to everyone that went! We also sold the most cds we have EVER sold before! This was also a cool thing. We are going to try and set up a concert at Right Attitudes sometime soon, hopefully with our pal, Jared Dubravsky, because he is awesome. We'll keep ya updated. OOH!

new song up on the mp3.com page, Kathleen!

March 9, 2002
Hello! This is Sam. Lack of updates, eh? Well, we played a concert with Jared Dubravsky on Thursday, February 21. This time we opened up for Jared. I had been in Vermont for several days and practicing was impossible. Anyways, Jared played an awesome set as usual, great songs, great playing, great time. Thanks Jared! Dave and I also finished our second album, "ROCK" and we hope to have a bunch ready to sell by MARCH 23rd, along with copies of "Guppy Farm" so we can sell double-packs, one package, 2 albums, only $10!!! YEAH! So, yea. We will be getting ready for the concert with the Small Brain Curds and Craig Werth pretty soon. THAT concert is on March 23rd, 2002, a Saturday. From what I understand, we get to play for about 20 minutes, and then they other folks take over. I am hoping a fun time will ensue with lots of music, and we shall see what develops. Ok, so yea. PLease come see us on March 23rd!!! Bring $10 so you can buy a double-pack of "Guppy Farm" and "ROCK" and your compost shark music collection will be complete! Keep it real! Also, you should start checking our mp3.com page because I am going to start adding new songs to it. Thanks!!!

first off, I'd like to give a big thank you to everyone who came out to see us at the talent show last night. It rokked! We had fun. We went to friendly's afterwards, where a very neat meatloaf eating contest ensued. Dave came out on top this time, but he insists it was pure luck. This thursday there will be a compost shark/Jared Dubravsky concert at dave's house at seven o' clock at night. special guests will appear and as always, there will be plenty of snacks and cans of squirt. You should all show up! it will be fun!

Whoa man, I still can't get a hang of this *2002* deal. I keep writing 2001...Oh well. Our concert went nice, I wish Jared could have played, but there will be others. By the way, this was our twentieth live appearance, thankyou everyone who has made it to see us any of these 20 shows, it isn't the same without ya! Thanks to all the bi-otches who could make it to this one, and those who were there in spirit! Yea! Umm...I am excited for the opening slot on the show with Craig Werth and The Small Brain Curds! Woo hoo! Ok, I am gonna stop, it's late. Later Vader!

January 24, 2002
Hey everyone! I (sam) played a little coffee shop thing on the 18th. It went alright, I kinda messed up a lot, but hey. Jared Dubravsky (j$)played too, and he did awesome. He played Queen of Hallways, and Letter to a Girl, both awesome songs. I played Her Smile and Steady W J.J. with the Welcome Back Kotter theme. This has been a really fun week, dave and I have been practicing for out concert tomorrow, I really hope people go this time, its gonna be fun. Light Saber is playing, and I think we might rock. Who knows! Angus is a good movie. If you wanna go to the show on the 25th, check out the TOUR page.

January 4, 2002
Hey all, this is Sam. We just finished the concert we had today, and it was a lot of fun. light saber, a geek rock band from Michigan, and they kicked off things and rocked the house. Then Jared played, and it was awesome. He played a bunch of really good songs that he wrote and it was the best part of the show! After Jared was finished, dave and I played, and it was neat. We played a lot of new songs. Gina and Tom showed up, and it was fun I think. Not a huge crowd..hehehe...but lots of fun. We also took lots of photos and I should be getting a scanner soon, so we can put lots of LIVE compost shark pics and bands we play with pics too on the site in the photos section instead of pictures of me and Kyle in math class. Those are good pictures mind you, but not as interesting. Thanks for playing with us Jared, and hopefully we can organize another concert with maybe a few more attendees, I am sorry to anyone who wanted to go but couldn't because of the short notice. Next time?

December 27, 2001
I(sam) have written and recorded rough versions of 2 brand new songs! I know Dave has been recording too, I heard one he just did and it is very nice. Yesterday we hung out and watched 'Killer Klowns from Outer Space' and ate pizza and chilled with Gina and Kyle for a bit. We also recorded a weird thing with a guitar, Dave's new banjo, and improvised vocals. It was...neat.

December 26, 2001
SUE B IS BACK!!!

December 24, 2001
I(sam) recorded three neil young songs today for my dad.

December 8, 2001
Hey, we just played the first talent show of the school year. We played last, had a lot of fun, saw some cool acts/performers/bands. We are going to start planning a concert soon, hopefully with as many as three acts/bands/solo artists...oooh!

October 31, 2001
Yo yo, I just figured I would let people know, football has been over, and Dave and I are making songs again, and chillin' like the old days. I broke my guitar practice amp, which was very similar and identical to the Compost Shark vocal amp. BUT, Dave and I went amp shopping and got a worthy replacement, which was a blast. GEE, WOULDN'T IT BE NICE TO HAVE A TALENT SHOW SOON? OH WAIT!!! More details soon...

October 3, 2001
Hello, someone hit my(Sam) car today. They smacked into the front panel, denting it and messing up my bumper and headlights. And then they left. Jeez. But people saw it, I am not mad, but I am very sad for my subaru, I love that car. I wasn't even in it. I was just eating my lunch, minding my own business. Jeez. Ok, thats all.

Terrorists attack the World Trade Center, and Pentagon with planes and crash in a field near Pittsburgh. I am sorry for everyone who is worrying about relatives and loved ones that are affected by this tragedy. I think everyone is affected by this cowardly action.

September 1, 2001
Wow, I guess it has been awhile since I have updated the site. Let's see, what has happened? We had 2 concerts in one day awhile ago, I think August 11th. Football has started for me, and because of that concerts will probably not be happening until football season is over, but who knows. Hmm...the tip of my finger is either sprained or broken, so I haven't been playing much guitar, so no new recordings from me, BUT Dave has some really good new songs that I heard. He is such a talented guy. It will be a sad day when he kicks me out of Compost Shark, at least for me. He will say "Sam is a sucka-duck!" but I will cry. Let's hope that day doesn't come for a long time. I can't think of anything else that has happened...sooo...I think I will get going.

Today available setlists were included in the past concerts section of the website, an appreciation section was added in the "extras" part of the site for Smith Comma John, and we are currently in planning stages of a "garage tour" for this summer, which should be cool.
