"Damn!" Langly growled, banging his head against the keyboard.
"No luck?" Frohike inquired for the fourth time.
"Well obviously no luck. If I had any luck I wouldn't keep tracing to an empty box on some nameless server." Langly shot back, head still on the keyboard.
"Have you tried replying back to the sender?" Byers asked calmly.
"Yeah. Tried that too. I got a similar Daemon response like when I tried to to send Yves mail on her old address." Langly said.
"So she is retracing the mail server she sent the message on to some miscellaneous server that isn't in use?" Frohike asked.
"That is if in fact Yves in the one who sent the message." Byers pointed out.
"Exactly." Langly said.
"Ah, guys?" said a familiar voice from behind.
The three turned around. It was Jimmy.
"Hey there Dopey," Langly said to him.
"Where the hell have you been all morning?" Frohike snarled.
"I was just trying to play a little Duke Nukem, but the screen keeps saying "Error in Drive E:" Jimmy said gingerly.
"Oh God, why do you always have to make everything difficult?" Langly yelled at him.
"Let's go see what you did." Byers told him gently. Byers, unlike his other two companions, was always trying to be patient with Jimmy.
The four headed on to the far left corner of the warehouse, to one of the several computers. This particular one was an old pentium II that was rarely used anymore, and was very dusty.
Langly sat down and hit the escape key at the blue DOS prompt error screen. He popped open the CD ROM drive, where he saw the shiny metallic bottom of a CD ROM game. He turned it over and saw the Duke Nukem 3d logo.
Both Frohike and Langly stared at Jimmy, Langly with his hands in his face, and Frohike, whose head looked like it was about to explode.
"You put the game in upside down, you dim witted moron! Frohike screamed, letting his slow building anger out.
"Oh, so that's why it wouldn't work, I put it in backwards!" Jimmy chuckled, ignoring the irate Frohike.
"NO, you put the CD in upside down! You CAN'T put it in backwards! Get it right!" Langly exclaimed, his turn getting angry at Jimmy.
"THAT'S IT!" Byers suddenly yelled, disregarding his usual soft tone. "I thought I saw Yves putting something in a box on the back shelf when she was last here. I didn't pay much attention, because I was working on the paper, but out of the corner of my eye, I thought it was a CD! I bet it has to do with Frohike's father, and she hid it there, expecting us to find it at the right time!
They all ran back to the large tech-equipment shelves, Frohike huffing behind. Byers took down an old box, which was filled with various old parts, modems, serial ports, and power cords. He then removed a small three quarter by one and one quarter optical disc which was wedged in the inner flap of the box. Langly snatched it from him, whisked over and popped it into a little external drive, which resembled a tiny ZIP drive.
"Hurry, open the directory!"Frohike urged.
