Final Fantasy X is set on the watery world of Spira. Once a technologically-advanced utopia, Spira's civilization was suddenly destroyed by a malefic force of nature known as Sin. (While Sin is represented as a ball of fire in the FF X logo, it is not actually a corporeal being.) One thousand years later, humanity has adopted the Ebon religion and lives in fear of technology, never knowing where Sin will strike next. Players step into the shoes of Tidus a cheerful sword-slinging youth and a star player at the underwater sport of blitzball. But while Tidus is the nominal main character, the actual star of the story seems to be his staff-wielding love interest Yuna. The daughter of the famous summoner Braska and a summoner herself, Yuna has been haunted by strange dreams as of late. Believing Sin to be the cause, she swears to defeat it, and perhaps emerge from her parents' shadow in the process. Yuna's plan is to journey to each Ebon temple and acquire its resident Aeon (summoned monster); only once she has gathered them all can she hope to defeat Sin. Tidus is simply Yuna's bodyguard and traveling companion on this mission.
TIDUS
Tidus is described as "cheerful" and a star player at an underwater fighting ball game, known as Blitzball. His love interest is Yuna.
AURON
A swordsman who used to guard master Braska, Yuna's father and he continues to guard his daughter Yuna. Also when he meets Tidus, he teaches him about many things during their journey.
WAKKA
Wakka is a blitzball player same as Tidus. First they're in different teams but later on, Tidus joins Wakka's. Wakka uses bltizball as a weapon, and OverDrive attack is to use his blitzball skill by selecting the right slot.
YUNA
Yuna is Tidus' love interest.. She is rumored to be the water goddess destined to battle the fire god, who resembles Ifrit. She is a summoner of the Ebon Tribe, and the daughter of Master Summoner Braska. Yuna is tired of living in the shadow of her renowned family.
KIMARI
Yuna's guardian who wears a spear. He tries to protect Yuna from the danger, using his strength. He meets Tidus from a battle, without noticing that they're in same side.
LULU
Another one of Yuna's guardians who follows Yuna and she acts like sister to Yuna. She is strict but calm.
RIKKU
A young woman from Al Bhed who uses a gun and steal items from the enemy. She's also Cid's daughter who is the commander of Al Bhed.
SEYMOUR
Seymour Guado is the current head of the demi-human Guado tribe. Seymour, however, is only half-Guado: His father was Ziscal, the previous Guado chief, but his mother was a human. Caught in between two races, he purports to fight against inequality and is consequently a popular public figure. Seymour is not just the head of the Guado tribe, but a leader in the Ebon religion as well. The predominant religion of Final Fantasy X's world, Ebon teaches that technology must never be used unless absolutely necessary.
