Tired of having poorly roleplayed characters, practical
jokers, rules jockeys and troublemakers in my campaigns, I decided the best
approach would be to introduce a set of loosely followed rules to lead people in
the right direction. For your benefit, I have reproduced the original set of
rules here.
Characters
-
Each candidate is to create a level one character using the
rules presented in the 3rd Edition Player's Handbook.
-
Any race can be played, provided the Dungeon Master is
consulted and agrees on a set of rules.
-
New classes and races may only be introduced with the prior
consent of the Dungeon Master.
-
Characters will be generated using the usual 4d6 drop the
lowest method.
-
Each player is to produce a two page history for their
character, explaining why the character adventures and why they chose their
class.
-
Each character is to complete the three page character
profile and submit it before the first session.
-
Every player is to come equipped for each session with pen,
pencil, eraser, dice and their CHARACTER SHEET.
-
One player must be nominated as a map maker and is
responsible for recording a map each session.
-
At least one of each class group (Rogue, Warrior, Priest and
Wizard).
There were a number of other rules I put in place, most of
them insignificant or ones that I broke soon into the entire event. These rules
are based loosely on those presented by Saif in his awesome Night Below campaign
and subsequent site.
