constancy

Body modification allows me intimate realization of the constancy of spirit and the cooperation between the corporeal and the noncorporeal.
physical bodies undoubtedly change over time (aging, maturing, etc.)
bringing ones body to conformity with the spirit represents a permanent manifestation of the will of the mind.
a piece of metal worn through the body will remain long after the body has fallen to dust or ash.
this is a testament to the immortal and eternal nature of that part of us which has existed before and shall exist after we slough off this mortal coil.
the act of manipulating the body to better reflect the internal nature of the individual shows that we can become what we wish, regardless of our birth.
the mind and body work in conjunction to bring manifestations of the spirit into being. the mind initiating the process by making the conscious choice to alter ones body permanently and the body responding by healing the modification.
to say the spirit is eternal does not imply that the soul is unchangeing. indeed, this is not the case.
external change should reflect internal change (whether natural or artificial.)
thus body modification is a celebration of the change and evolution of the soul as well as its permanence.
