A lot of students seem to quit psychology in first or second year because they find the statistics component too daunting. If you are finding the statistics overwhelming or bewildering, try getting a tutor, or forming a study group with around five other students, some of which might be good at statistics. I suspect that most people would get the hang of statistics quite quickly once they had the basic concepts, but often the information is given extremely quickly in class, so that people who are already struggling have no chance to get their heads around it in their own time. Further, I've noticed that sometimes the class tutors may not have a good concept of it themselves, so they aren't able to help struggling students much, even if they are willing. If you can talk it through with a tutor, or with other students, then you can go at your own rate.
You may only need a few sessions with a tutor. If you are part of a study group, even the students who are good at statistics will gain a lot from talking it through with you and others (I've done this myself and I think we all benefitted).
