34 Baltimore Av

On an outbound trip, pauses at 36th street to let off a passenger. Rush hour headways in the subway- surface tunnel are about one minute.

9108 is inbound climbing from 42nd to 41st street in this telephoto view. The Stars and Stripes decal above the rollsign was placed on all the trolleys to honour those who died during the September 11 2001 terror attacks.

9103 creeps over the well worn special work at 42nd street. August 9, 2006.

9053 picks up a few passengers at 47th street on the way to work. Morning rush hour August 9, 2006.

In September 2000, SEPTA was doing trackwork on Baltimore Av, that resulted in single tracking from 46 to 49th. Temporary crossover tracks were installed at each end (see the PCC shot at the top for a good view of the new track set in a pile of asphalt) and the cars were put through by a person stationed at 49th street. Cudos to SEPTA for not taking the easy way out and putting buses on the route or rerouting the cars via Chester and 49th street. Here a car goes from right rail to wrong rail at 49th.

9074 has just left the 61st street loop and is en route to city hall. This operator can often be found on the other side of the camera.

9098 is southbound on 49th St. at Chester Av. on one of the few bricked sections of track left in North America. The car has completed morning rush duties on the 34 and is on its way back to Elmwood Depot. Since all SEPTA trolleys are to remain in service coming to and from the depot, the operator has put up a 36 sign and will pick up passengers along Elmwood Av.

9104 is on Grays Av at 51st street en route to Elmwood Depot. The industrial yet sparse backdrop seems to be more like an old Pittsburgh PCC back drop than a modern Philadelphia one.
