San Francisco trolleybuses

The following is a small number of images taken on a trip to SF in 2000 with a few photos taken for me in 2001. Click on the thumbnails to enlarge.

Presidio yard circa June 2000. San Francisco is nothing but nice views. Even the trolleybus yard is picturesque. The coaches parked diagonally in the far left of the picture were retired while the rest were still in active duty.

A Flyer four pack lays over on Broderick St, at the upper end of the very busy 30 Stockton route. The portion of the line between North Point and the Cal Train Stn seens 3-5 minute headways throughout the daytime.

5111 inches through Chinatown. This was perhaps the most eye catching of several overall ad jobs at the time.

60 foot articulated trolleys were ordered from New Flyer in 1994 for the 31 Balboa and 14 Mission routes. 7006 is out of service with poles down while 7042 is on a short turn to Lowell. Mission and 4th.

7037 on 31 duty lays over at the Ferry terminal.

5201 at Divisadero and California. The 24 line has perhaps the steepest grades of any line in San Francisco. Eric Haas photo.

5090 rounds the bend at McAllister and Central. Photo by Eric Haas.

5126 like 5090, had suffered through years of San Fancisco crowds and traffic and was showing its age by the time this shot was taken in October 2001. The Flyers have since been replaced by Skoda trolleys. This shot was taken at Fulton and Ashbury. Photo by Eric Haas.

Fast forward to August 2006. The Flyers are limited to morning rush hour work on the 41 Union route. 5277 lays over on Lyon St at Filbert with an ETI Skoda right behind.

The Friends of Philadelphia Trolleys organised a "Farewell to the Flyers" charter on August 19, 2006. Charter vehicle is parked on Davis at California to get a trolleybus / Cable Car meet.
