Welcome to our all-time league table of live bands. Before you view the ladder itself, a brief explanation of the points sytem. Obviously you can't just score bands/gigs 'cos they're great/good/shit etc., so we think we've devised a fair system that rewards the consistent performers we go back to see again and again, and discredits the idiots we've been unlucky enough to encounter on the way. That way, a band such as Coldplay, who I've seen twice, are still kept right at the bottom, whereas a far superior band like Linoluem are above them, despite only being seen once. The points are awarded as follows:- Band deliberately seen, either as headline act or support - 3 pts Band seen at festival*, deliberately or not - 2 pts Band seen as headline act/support, as a result of seeing someone else - 1 pt * festivals also includes other multiple-bill events such as Hogmanay concerts, T-Break heats, Chemikal Underground birthday party, Intercity crawl etc. for example 11 - Dandy Warhols (4) The Dandy Warhols have scored 11 points in 4 appearances; 3 as a headline act (3x3pts) plus one festival appearance (2pts), which gives a total of 11. Simple, eh? If two bands are tied with the same number of points, the number of times the bands have been seen are used as a tiebreaker i.e. whoever took the least gigs to amass that points total. After that, bands are merely separated by good old alphabetical order. So, am I the only one who thinks this website is getting a little sad now...
