who the fuck is alice?
Okay, I gotta admit, I didn't think Adeladie was the most exciting place in the world, but it was only for three days (during which I took exactly 2 pictures, both in Hahndorf) Had a good meal and a few beers on my first night, plus had a good jam with Jo, with me on the drums and her on guitar, so that was ok. Second day I did manage to get a Dockers jersey reduced to $50 bucks in the AFL shop, and a cheap copy of the Eternal Sunshine soundtrack, so that was good, plus I got pretty blind on sat night too. Third day went up to Hahndorf in the hills, a little german-type town with a scottish restaurant selling haggis pakora: you work it out! But we had another good dinner and the german arms had DAB and Bittburger on tap, so that was good, And when we got home everyone else went out and I got to watch the footy on my own. So it wasn't really a bad three days overall. But god, why was I so desparate to get the train on sunday (especially when Cyclone Ingrid was heading straight for Darwin at the time) I think Adelaide just feels a bit too nice for me, bit too relaxed and, I dunno, just something about it...but hey-ho, another couple of days on the train, and as luck would have it, found myslef sitting next to a lassie fae Blackford in Perthshire, small world eh? So we had quite a pleasant journey, both being able to actually speak normally without constantly repeating ourselves, which frankly, after seven weeks of being misunderstood and misheard, was a delight. I was a bit worried about having three hours to kill in Alice Springs on the way, but I ended up having one of the most pleasant afternoons of my holidays at the Alice Springs Reptile Centre, only $6 it was too! Not the biggest place but loads of cute little lizards, and we got a very informative chat from the staff, as well as holding some of the residents. And I got to hold an eight-foot python called Scarlett, which isn't nearly as scary or slimy as it sounds, she was quite cute actually (although I had second thoughts when we saw her eating a rat later) And if all that wasn't enough, we met the star attraction outside, terry the croc, who just couldn't help smiling for the camera...
isn't he adorable?
