It's football jim, but not as we know it II
Okay, so maybe there's been a lot of running around and last-minute changes to plans. But suddenly I realised, Hey, I'm in Melbourne at Easter: the launch of the footy season. A million games over the course of 4 days! So, having been to a game at the Telstra dome, I thought it'd only be fair to check out the grand old lady herself, the MCG, home of many a failed Australian world cup qualifying attempt over the years. With no particular interest in any of the teams playing in melbs over the weekend, I plumped for the Collingwood-Bulldogs game on mon arvo. $32 bucks for my ticket, but that was for the second row (which means you get a great view of half the game, unless the sun's in your face, which it was) But another great day out, another great stadium and another great game, with the Bulldogs pulling off a sensational last-quarter comeback to stun the pies at the end. And wasn't it just worth it to shut up that loudmouth sitting in front of me! For those Collingwood fans who stayed to the end, there was the traditional chance to go on the pitch after the siren and have a kick-around. I didn't have a ball (or any mates to play with) but I could hardly miss the chance of a lifetime to walk on the hallowed turf of one of the world's great sporting arenas. Bloody dangerous it is too, with 200 games of footy going on around you, but well worth it...
