Theatre Pictures, Page One

I love acting, and I hope to become a famous actress someday. Well, everyone has to start somewhere, and I started at Mercy High School, both acting and doing tech for every play since I arrived freshman year. Here are some pictures from all of the plays that I've been in as well as some shots from backstage.

This first one is from the fall play I was in my sophomore year. It was called "Sherlock Holmes and A Near Case of Murder." It was a spoof on all of those mysteries about the great British detective. From left to right, the actresses are Trina (Watson), Stacy (Sherlock's girlfriend), Erica (Holmes), me (Dragon Lady, the co-villian), Gabby (the helpless ingenue), and Rachael (Professor Moriarity).

This is from sophomore year's spring play "The Crucible." This was the first co-ed play Mercy had had since "Murder on the Nile" a few years before I came to Mercy (and last, as long as Mr. Stoddard is in charge). Coincidentally, most of the guys who were in that play were in "The Crucible." From left to right: me (Ann Putnam), Whips (Mr. Putnam), Leslie (Abigail Williams), Mark (Reverend Parris), Big Scott (Giles Corey), and John (Reverend John Hale).

This is another scene from "The Crucible." This one has a nice view of Mark's butt...one of the best parts of the whole thing. From left to right: me, Mark, Leslie, Rachael (She's the one in the bed. She played Betty Parris), and Whips. The greatest quote to come out of the whole ordeal comes from Whips: "There be children DYIN' in the village, mister!" I suppose that you'd have to be there to truly know the humour behind it.

This is yet another "Crucible" pic. It was taken after one of the preformances. You can make out John and Jackie (Goodwife Nurse) in the background. In the foreground are Jessica and Angie-la (Tituba, the crazy slave woman).

This picture is from 1999's fall production of "A Mid-summer Night's Dream," possibly the most popular play in Mercy history. We sold out opening night (thanks in part to yours truly, the Publicity Queen), and I received an ovation when I died. (I played Bottom, who plays Pyramus, who kills himself most gallantly and ham-ily for love.) In the foreground you can see me, Jessica (Starveling/Moonshine), and her dog Max (the dog). In the background, you can kind of make out Robin (Puck) and Becky (faerie).

In another scene from "A Mid-summer..." you can see me and Emily (Flute/Thisby) in the foreground and in the background (from left to right) Julie (Snout/Wall), Max, Jessica, and (my cousin) Tara (Snug/Lion).

This is a picture of all of the "actors" in the fall play. Julie is sitting on the floor. Standing (from left to right): Tara, Nicole (Peter Quince), me, Petie (the penguin in my pocket; he was our good luck charm), Emily, and Jessica.

This is the first picture from Mercy's 2000 Spring Production of "Radio TBS: Trailer Park Broadcasting Scandals." It was a hilarious play set in a trailer park (of course) and was chock-full of redneck humour. I was the main techie for this play, Elvis was our mascot (isn't he a sexy man?), and Karen (one of my favourite class of '02 girlies) was the assistant director and the ONLY one (other than Mr. Stoddard) who knows how to work the sound thingie. Here we are backstage before one of the performances.
