The Second Theatre Picture Book

The following pictures are from my last production at Mercy High School, Faith County.

Erin D. played the constantly inebriated Gladys Pimbleton, the "recently-dumped first lady of Minneola." Whether Eddy (her nickname) was splattering whip cream everywhere, playing her demented version of "Fur Elise," or trying not to crack up while being dead, Eddy kept us all laughing (usually with her...)

Do you recognize that sexy-looking twelve-year-old boy with a hot woman on his lap? Yep, it's none other than yours truly, playing Luther Carson, Faith County's shy and bumbing mechanic. The little lady with me is my very good friend (and constant houseguest) Megan M., playing my "lil bride to be" Naomi Farkle. Her hair is larger than it appears in this picture.

This time, my lady friend is Lucy playing the terribly terribly pregnant Violet Farkle. It was the cast joke that I looked like Kevin Arnold from The Wonder Years and that Lucy looked like Winnie. I won't hold that against her.

From left to right, we have Melek (Mildred), Katie (Faye), ED, Megan, Stephanie (tech crew), Lucy, Michelle (costume mistress extrordinaire), Tara (Delbert), and Karen (assistant director). On the floor, we have Nicole (Bubba), me, and Kristy (Ruthann). There were six other pictures taken before this, each time adding several cast members. Thanks to Lucy's mom for her patience.

An actual scene from the show...Reverend Bubba Bedford, Luther Carson (groom), and Delbert Fink (best man) are enjoying Elvis' Hawaiian Wedding Music.

Another scene from the show: Naomi and Mildred are inspecting the recently-deceased Gladys Pimbleton's body.
Mildred: "My, that is an ugly dress she's wearin'..."
Naomi: "And her hair looks awful!..."

A very bemused Violet (Lucy, right) listens patiently as Mildred rants about the joys of having children, especially girls.
Mildred: (dreamily) "Violet Bud...Violet Bud Farkle. Why I believe that's the prettiest name I've ever heard. Oh, I hope it's a girl, honey. Girls are so much fun! You can dress 'em up in cute little dresses and buy them dollies to play with..."

Here we find three lovely ladies gossiping about the current marital scandal rocking Faith County--the break-up of Mayor Pimbleton and his wife Gladys. Naomi, Faye (Katie, middle), and Mildred are shocked by the drunken, former First Lady's behaviour.
Faye: "But that's not all! Gladys, soused to the gills, drove down to Polk City and had it out with..."
Naomi: "Tammy Jane Sprinkle. She's an S-L-U-T."...
Faye: "Anyway, she went to where she worked and threatened her with a hot curling iron!"
