Bauhaus, was a German art school founded by Walter Gropius (born May 18, 1883) in the year 1919 (which is why the band was origionally named 'Bauhaus 1919') in the city of Weimar. In 1925 the school was moved to Dessau. Ludwig Mies van der Rohe took over directing the school in 1930 until it was closed by the Nazis in 1933
