burning from the inside
****
- disjointed, Peter doesn't even sing on all of the songs, but it's still good. (Bauhuas without Peter Murphy is just Love And Rockets) At first I didn't like it at all (except 'she's in parties'), but now I can see it has some value. the title track is the only song I don't really like, it seems long and Peter starts making weird noises about half way through.
****
- double CD, very bad sound quality (they did nothing to change or edit it), but it was their last show so get this anyway, includes alot of stuff from 'burning from the inside' and a cover of "in heaven" (which i haven't heard anywhere else) but nothing from 'the sky's gone out'.
*****
- double CD recorded live in 1998 at the NY show, excellent sound quality, the new song (a cover of dead can dance's 'severance', includes both a live and studio version) is AWESOME! the band has never sounded this good on a live CD before.
book **** cd*****
-I was disappointed the book wasn't in all-color and didn't have more exclusive pictures but it's definitely better than nothing. the chronology and full discography is really helpful. the CD is pretty good, (all studio stuff from 1979) it's interesting to see how the tracks got changed from there to where they ended up on the albums. it also has part of a song called 'shows' on it, as far as I know, this song isn't available on anything else.
*****
-nothing can take the place of actually being at one of the reunion tour shows, but this is better than not getting to see them at all. this is a very good live video, even though it doesn't include 'severance' (but does have some of 'the passenger' which doesn't appear to be any where else). Peter looks very hot and the rest of the band looks pretty good too.
Bauhaus's song ***** the rest of it **
-'the dog's a vapour', Bauhaus's first original song in 16 years is AWESOME!!! oh my god, buy this CD just to hear it, the rest of album is nothing in comparison.
***
-when I saw this I thought "another Cleopatra tribute comp, oh no!" But for the most part this is actually a bit better than most that I've heard. I enjoyed faith and the muse, the shroud, and this ascension's covers because they all have female vocalists which give the familiar songs an interesting twist. I also liked fahrenheit 451 with eva o, blade fetish, kill switch...klick and wreckage's versions.
The only songs I really didn't like were ikon and eleven shadow's versions partly because I don't think they got the lyrics right and that ticks me off.
