Perception refuses to match reality,
but what can you do?
The knowledge of a world
they say doesn’t exist
sits on your shoulders,
the weight of a lifetime filled
with the suspension of your disbelief.
You know what’s real,
they know what’s real
(or so they say) -
too bad for you the two don’t agree,
because maybe you wouldn’t be crazy then.
(Never mind that you aren’t, of course.)
But when perception refuses to match reality,
