Now before we get off into my disagreements with abortion, I think that most of these christian hypocrites need to be reminded as to what their bibles really say about abortions and the definition of what life is (for the sake of argument, assuming that any nonsense in the bible is true, which it is not).
Disclaimer: Keep in mind that I am not stating bible verses to use the bible as a valid claim to my opinions, all I am doing is stating them to discredit the christian position and to discredit the bible itself.
According to their bible, life begins at birth. Meaning that as soon as the baby exit the mother's womb, it is life, and not before. Their god defines life as "breath" in several passages, such as the story of Adam's creation in Genesis 2:7, when God "breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul." Jewish law traditionally considers that personhood begins at birth. Also, according to bible verses such as the Mosaic law in Exodus 21:22-25, directly following the Ten Commandments, makes it clear that an embryo or fetus is not a human being.
There ia also other bible verses that indicates that it dosesn't give a damn about the fetus, such as the mosaic law in exodus:
"If men strive, and hurt a woman with child, so that her fruit depart from her, and yet no mischief follow: he shall be surely punished according as the woman's husband will lay upon him; and he shall pay as the judges determine. "And if any mischief follow, then thou shalt give life for life, Eye for eye, tooth for tooth . . ."--Ex. 21:22-25
In this case, if a man do something to cause a woman to have a miscarriage, he will only be fined, but if the women herself is hurt by the man, he will be executed. In other words, the bible says that executing a man if he hurt a woman is okay, but if he only cause her to have a miscarriage, then it's virtually nothing. All he have to do is pay a fine, and be on with his life.
Let us also not forget bible verses like Hosea 9:14 where a prophet of god prayed for the wives of his enemies to have miscarriages, and then later in hosea 9:16, he got is prayer answered.
I failed to see why some christians are so against abortions in the first place, when in fact their pathetic book known as the bible doesn't condone it.
As for the bible command "Thou Shalt not Kill", that didn't apply to some of those that were actual living and breathing human beings, such as Numbers 31:17 where their god order to "kill every male among the little ones. " and executing people for stupid stuff like picking up sticks on the sabbath day (yet more reasons why the bible have contradictions and should not be taken seriously). Anyway, the point is that their bible is sure in hell not against abortion.
As far as my opinion on abortion. YES! I do support abortion in certain situation. Here is why.
I personally think that the population on this planet is getting out of control. How many of us are there, about 3 trillion? Really guys. We have limited resources, like fossil fuels and food. Once those resources are gone, that is it. We are done for (unless there are alternative things to replace those limited resources). Also, too many people also mean too much pollution as well. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that too many bad stuff and bad people is the reason to not bring a baby into this world. Who knows, maybe the baby might turn out to be a bad ass when it becomes an adult, or maybe not. Like I said, we have limited resources. Food being one of them. Farming for instance. If one day, the grounds for farming becomes useless and cannot grow anything on the land, that would mean that millions of people will be starving and dying because of it, including babies being born into the world. What is the point of bringing a baby into this world if you cannot or do not have the resources and food to take care of it? With pollution adding on to the problem, it could make things worse. Also, don't forget that most people we bring into the world, the more pollution there will be.
Also, I am a huge supporter of women's rights. Regardless of whether I am with or against abortion, every women have the right to choose to have a baby or abort it. IF the fetus is still apart of the women's body, then she has control over it.
The only thing that I disagree about abortion (and this goes to the women that choose to have a abortion)is; why do you guys have to waste thousands of dollars on it, when you should be wearing protection like condoms or birth control pills so you don't have to even worry about it in the first place?
Do not get me wrong. I do enjoy life being born into this world and that I do support life very much. However, I am also not going to limit a person's freedom of choosing to bring life into the world or not. It would be stupid to bring a baby, a life, into this world if we ended up not being able to take care of it because of limited resources and pollution. Anyway, there is my opinion on why I disagree with christian's views on abortion.
I had a friend on the MSN TV Discussion group that asked me about what if I was in a situation where if I wanted a baby, but the women that is carrying my baby want to abort it. That is an interesting question. It does take two people, a man and a women, to have a child that is biological to them, so chances are both the man and the women should have equal say in this. However, if I was in a situation where my spouse wanted to abort the unborn child, most likely, I would let her or I wouldn't stop her. Like I said earlier, the fetus is still a part of a women's body until it comes out of her body, therefore the women have control over it until then. Inspite of whether I want to be a father or not, if my spouse isn't ready to have a child and want to abort, then (beside both of us not being able to be good parents to that child) I don't want to stop her. However, if I ever become entangle in that situation, then my opinion might vary, you'll never know.
