Kelly's Kolloum of Innernet Goodness

Kerry *N Bush

Now that John Kerry is officially the Democratic nominee, we now get to watch the endless ads brought on by each candidate to tell us why the other man is evil and you, the American voter (or NASCAR dad) should vote for Kerry or Bush.  It's only March and already it's getting nasty.  It's particularly nauseating in Ohio (where I go to school), because Ohio is THE state to win.  Because of the importance, literally every 3rd ad is one for President Bush, and every 4th or 23rd ad is one for John Kerry.  I'm no fan of John Kerry, but at least he hasn't used September 11th to try to sway votes.  Even John McCain, a REPUBLICAN, thinks that Bush is out of line with some of the things that the commander-in-chief has accused Kerry of.

However, there's a shadiness to Kerry that I don't quite trust.  I'm all for a politician that tries to inspire Americans to be proud of their country (in times other than war).  Kerry just doesn't do it.  In fact, I've seen him speak a few times on TV, and each time I got bored and changed the channel.  Clearly no Howard Dean.  Sure, you all may knock on Dean for the scream, but at least you paid attention, and maybe looked at where he stood on issues.  No one cares about what Kerry stands for, just so as long as he beats Bush.

Like everyone else, I want Bush out of office.  He's made America something to be feared in the rest of the world (and not in the good way).  I can say this because I was in France this summer, met people from all over Europe, Australia, Asia, the Middle East, and Canada.  The one thing they all agreed on was that America has lost some stature.  And they all agreed that Bush has lost his mind.  So when Kerry made his claim that some world leaders want to see him win the election, I wasn't surprised.  Actually, I don't think they care who it is, so as long as it isn't Bush.  However, I think it's sad that American politics have come down to this.  It's been a very long time since there has been anyone in the White House that's inspired
Americans to be better people.  There was JFK, and possibly Carter.  Clinton was fun, but I'm not about to buy cigars anytime soon.

So if John Kerry is reading this (which is highly doubtful): start showing some enthusiasm.  While the Presidency may be just another paycheck to you, it means a lot more to other Americans.

I'll get off my soapbox now.  Luv, Kelly :)
