Hatshepsut, daughter of Thutmose and his first wife Ahmose, was born in 1520 BC. As a Pharoah of the 18th Dynasty, she was Egypt's first female ruler.
She claimed that her father appointed her Crown Prince, but when he died, she was forced to marry her half brother, Thutmose II, with whom she coruled Egypt until his death.
Thutmose III, the son of Thutmose II born of a concubine, was appointed his father's successor.
He was a child at the time and later married Hatshepsut's daughter. Hatshepsut ruled as regent but a year later she had herself crowned Pharoah, she reigned until 1483. Thutmose III was her co-ruler, however he was powerless until after her death.
Not much is known about Hatshepsut since Thutmose III tried to erase her from history by destroying any record of her.It is said she dressed like a man and was gifted in the talents of war.
During her reign, Hatshepsut greatly improved trade with other countries which helped make Egypt the rich Empire it once was.
