There are many types of abuse against women....domestic violence, rape, etc.
This page is not a pretty topic to discuss but just maybe it will help someone that one person out there.

THIS IS NOT THE WAY LIFE AND LOVE WAS MEANT TO BE!

Being a former victim of domestic violence I can identify with the following poem.
And there is HOPE and a way out!
And it's not easy.
But the peace you will obtain in your life
and inner self is worth any sacrifice
you may have to make to break free from the chains which bind you.

A poem by Karen McGhee

Verbal Abuse

Your words are like weapons
Sharper than a knife
Killing me silently
Slicing years off my life
Adjectives piercing
My heart
Verbs cutting me
To the bone
Remember
Sticks and stones
May break your bones
But Names
Can never hurt you?
That’s a lie
Inside you slowly die
No visible scars
Show the depth
Of emotional pain
Tears eroding you
Like acid rain
Humiliating
Degrading
Derogative
Words
Verbal Abuse
Being battered internally
Leaving bruise only on the inside
Emotional mental torture
That shreds apart your pride
Running without moving
Looking for a place to hide
Confining the spirit
Staggering around
Four walls of a cage
Pacing back and forth
Through viscous acts of rage
Victim of violence
Words that are never silenced
Longing for stillness
Just an Empty Bed
Peace and quiet
Yelling out of my head
My soul to the devil
I will not sell
This house of hell
I can no longer dwell
Vows have been broken
I will walk away with
Only scars as my tokens
There are no words
Left to be spoken
