you've asked why i wear two watches
and i responded with a lie
i might've told you i'm ill
when my tears are when i cry
deceit is my protection from you
and what you might say
but you seem to be my only friend
and i fear that you'll run away
i say one watch is for my residence
and one tells the time back home
when actually both represent the now
covering up the past when i was alone
once is called an accident
twice is coinsidental they say
so forgive me my fears and deceptions
as i try to hide my attempts away
it's not that i don't trust you
or don't want you close here
but your sincere words all echo
the others in the past years
whether on the skin's surface
or beneath in the heart
help me heal from the turmoil
of the reminder of my two scars
