By looking at these pages you will not learn everything about runes. This is just to cover the basics. I suggest that you pick up a book on runes and study everything within it as well. The book I use is called The Book of Runes by Ralph H. Blum. It comes with a set of runes and a pouch to put them into. Note that some sources use different names for the runes, though, they are simular enough for you to know which rune is being talked about. For instance, Swill and Sowelu are the same; Perth and Perthro are the same, etc.
The word rune means secret or mystery. Each rune has a threefold nature: (essence of the secret slumbering within) Form- ideagraph and phonetic values Idea- symbolic contect Number- dynamic nature relationship with other runes There are many correspondences that are intertwined with the runes. These include a tree, Deity, number, letter, herb, color, astrological and tarot correspondences. The best day to do your rune readings is on Wednesday, though, you can do them any time you wish. Doing a rune reading too often will only wear out the runes and you will get screwed up readings. When you do a reading, do not do another reading; pick one or another. When you first start out you will want to try out the different spreads in one day; don't. Also, you may want to keep a journal of your readings so you can check back to the things you were told without pulling out the runes or a book.
