Drawing a single rune can give you an overview of an entire situation, or you can draw a single stone at the beginning of each day for an overview of the day. Keeping a journal of the runes that you draw each day will help in noticing any patterns in the runes.
Three Rune Spread Lay the runes from right to left and read them from right to left. The first stone is an overview of the situation at hand, what the problem is. The second stone is what you need to do, or not to do, to solve or overcome the problem. The third stone is what the outcome could be if you follow the right action. Read each rune separately and then what they mean in relation to each other. Five Rune Spread This is for more complex issues. Lay the five rune stones one at a time from top to bottom. The first stone is an overview of the situation. The second stone is the challenge you face. The third stone is the course of action that is called for. The fourth stone is the sacrifice or choices you need to make. The fifth stone is the new situation that is evolving. Read each stone separately and then how the relate to each other. The Runic Cross This is a six rune spread. This spread will give even more guidance to a particularly difficult situation or decision that you are facing. The first stone represents the past, what lies behind you. The second stone represents the present, you now. The third stone represents the future, what lies ahead of you. The fourth stone is the foundation of the matter under consideration. The fifth stone is the challenge, it suggests the nature of the obstacles in your path. The sixth stone is the new situation that will evolve as you successfully meet your challenge. If, after deep thought and reflection you still lack sufficient clarity, draw a single stone. This rune is called the Rune of Resolution, it will help clarify the essence of the situation. A Destiny Profile This should only be done once in your lifetime. It is a guide to self-discovery, and self-change. This should only be done after long introspection. There are specific questions to be asked, each should be asked as if for a single reading. These are the six questions for the destiny profile: 1) What is my nature? 2) Why was I born? 3) What is my vocation? 4) What is my destiny? 5) What is my cross? 6) What is my unified self? One rune may be picked for each question, using all the runes to pick from for each question. If a more detailed, in-depth reading is wanted, a spread of several stones may be used for each question. Instead of drawing stones, you could toss all the stones and read all the stones in the way they have fallen for each question. Using all the stones should be done after working with the stones for quite awhile. |
