Albums of Purgatory interview Abandoned Grave
Firstly, whats the band up to right now?
At the moment we are recording some stuff for our Hard-Rock project called Spearhead.
We hope to get the songs done during the next 3 months. There will be a website
on www.the-abyss.de ...
How would you describe the Abandoned grave sound?
Pure fucking gutgrinding Gore :)
How did you get involved with the band?
Well... first of all... in the begining Abandoned Grave was some kind of birthday
present which turned into a "real" band... that´s no joke !
Can you remember your first gig (how did it go)?
We haven´t played any gigs yet and i don´t think that we will ever
play with Abandoned Grave...
Are you involved in any other projects and if so how do they compare to Abandoned
Grave?
Yes.
We have several projects in which we are involed, these bands are:
Abandoned Grave (You know what music ...)
Spearhead (Some kind of Hard-Rock with Stoner Rock influences and a bit Pantera...)
Vanguard (Kinda dead by now, but when alive Vanguard plays Death/Thrash in the
vein of old Sodom hehe www.the-abyss.de/vanguard - There are free MP3s on this
site!)
Winterdawn (Blackmetal - The most serious project we are working on... www.the-abyss.de/winterdawn
- There are free MP3s on this site!))
What are your favourite Abandoned Grave tracks?
My (Andreas) favorite is Intense Sledgehammer Rage, Stefan likes Gorezilla the
most.
What are your favourite all time songs?
My favorites:
Iron Maiden - 2 Minutes to midnight
Grave - Soulless
Cannibal Corpse - Hammer Smashed Face
Stefan´s faves:
Slayer - Altar of Sacrifice
Cannibal Corpse - Devoured by Vermin
Dismeber - Overide the overture
What the first record you ever bought?
Andreas: ZZTop - Recycler
Stefan: Bon Jovi - Slippery when wet
Which album was it that got you into metal and can you explain why?
Well, i guess it was Iron Maiden - Fear of the Dark, Stefan´s ignition
came along with Sodom - Tapping the vein.
Whats the last album you purchased and what did you think of it?
Well ... the last album i bought was ... don´t know ... i haven´t
bought any CDs in the last year, duno why... Stefan´s last CD was Severe
Savior - Brutality is Law and he say it would be kinda cool if not all songs
would sound the same :)
What would be your dream band line-up?
Well, hard question... our dream lineup would be:
Drums: Pete Sandoval
Vocals: Chris Banrnes or George Fischer ... well, lets call him George Barnes
:)
Guitar: Trey Azagthoth
Guitar: K.K Downing (but just for the sologuitar)
Bass: Alex Webster
If you could do a cover for a tribute album to any band, which song of which
band would you pick and why?
I think we would cover Unleashed - Execute them all
What do you think of the position of metal and music in general today?
The Metal Scene should stay as small as it is, we don´t really like those
NuMetal Kiddies with their damn baggy pants and skatewear. I would like to see
those old TV Shows again, like Headbangers Ball and Metalla on german VIVA TV...
Which other bands stand out for you at the moment?
Well ... mostly the good old Stuff like Bolt Thrower, old Cannibal Corpse, Necrophobic,
Slayer... not much new stuff, except Nile i would say...
Do you have any funny stories about the band you can share with us?
If we would share them with you, the Interview would get about twice the size, perhaps we can do a second "Interview" and we tell you some funny stuff :)
and finally, what do you see in the future for Abandoned Grave?
We hope to record some new stuff in the future and become big Goregrind Rockstars
with lots of chicks and beer.
Thanks again for the interview and good luck for the future.
Bye mate! Cheers!!!
