Albums of Purgatory: Firstly, whats the band up to right now?

Armistice: well we are getting ready to record some songs for a possible 10" vinyl plus i think another 7". our drummer just got back from vacation, so we're going to start practicing soon  & playing shows again.

AoP: How would you describe the Armistice sound?

Armistice: punk..we've been called crust, thrash, hardcore, peacepunk, etc., etc. but nowdays labels get thrown around. we're definately punk sounding, thats for sure..

AoP: How did the band begin back in 1990?

Armistice: we actually had a band before we chose the name armistice. we were back & forth without a permanent name for about a year & a half.when i first thought of the name, i thought the other band members were going to laugh at me, but they went for it & in december of 1990, we settled on armistice as our band name. it seemed to fit in with what were about.

AoP: Can you remember your first gig (how did it go)?

Armistice: i remember it was in late dec.1990.i remember being really drunk,so my memory is hazy.i know we played with a band called f.u.b.a.r. & a band called silent scream. it was a total metal show & i thought they would hate us, but they seemed to like us, & it was fun.i remember there was soo much alcohol...

AoP: You have gone through a lot of line-up changes.  Has that ever been difficult to cope with?

Armistice: sometimes its a real pain, but surprisingly it has only slowed us down a couple of times.we're still friends with all of the drummers, although i lost contact with some of them. we're fortunate that it hasnt taken long to find another drummer.hopefully our current one with stay for a long time.

AoP: What are your favourite Armistice tracks?

Armistice: its hard to say which is a favorite.i like a lot of the newer ones we're playing, but they all have a place in my heart. (:

AoP: What are your favourite all time songs?

Armistice: my top 10 favorite songs of all time :
1.when innocent die -anti cimex
2.i like food-descendents
3.uncontrolled nuclear power - body count (not ice t's band)
4.domination or destruction -iconoclast (l.a.)
5.the cycle-anti
6..vi kan - mob 47
7.tere there... - g.i.s.m.
8.steel case enclosure-crucifix
9.all this silence with all this pain-a//solution
10.does this system work?-discharge

AoP: What was the first record you bought?

Armistice: the first punk record i bought i think was black flag's nervous breakdown 7". my first ever record was kiss-dressed to kill which my grandmother bought for me in 1976.

AoP: What would be your dream band line-up?

Armistice: i dont know....i guess ill go with the original line up of discharge : cal-vocals,bones-guitar,rainy-bass,tezz-drums. i heard the new lp last week, & its like 1982 all over again, i was blown away.so much better than that "grave new world" crap they put out.

AoP: What do you think of the position of music in general today?

Armistice: i dont like what passes for metal nowdays. bands like limp bzkit ,korn, linkin park are an insult to the genre.even worse, what passes for punk. blink 182,green day,sum41, are crap..i guess they have a purpose of exposing people to that type of music, but there so many real metal & punk bands who should be getting the attention these crap bands get.

AoP: Do you have any funny stories about the band you can share with us?

Armistice: one time at the hong kong cafe in l.a.,patty had to use the restroom. she walked in on these kids fondling a piece of feces,as if it were a toy.i wonder what they were on?that was pretty funny..

AoP: and finally, what do you see in the future for Armistice?

Armistice: i really dont look far ahead.we take a day at a time.right now i see us practicing more & recording some new material.after that we'll see what happens..

AoP: Thanks again for the interview and good luck

Armistice: thank you for the interview. i wish you the best of luck in your endeavors. anyone who wishes to write us can email us at: radioactivebear@mindspring.com. we moved recently, so the wilmington address is no more. we'll have a p.o. box up soon, so until then email us at the address i gave.communication is the key...
