Albums of Purgatory: Thank for the interview

Bill Warren: No, Thank you....

AoP: First of all, how's it going? Whats the band up to?
BW: Uprooted has been up to our eyelids in promotions, recording, and writing.  We are working on another feature film soundtrack as well as a compilation album. A ton of great new material is coming up right now. I have to say that I'm very pleased with the band's progress.

AoP: How did the search for a new drummer go?
BW: It sucks......
Haha, no it's never fun looking for needles in a haystack. It's always been a little more difficult finding a drummer that would play with a click due to the loops and sampling that we use throughout our set.
AoP: How would you describe the sound of Uprooted?

BW: Hmmm probably the best description would be "OPEN," meaning that from one   song to the next, a completely different style comes about. Songs like "Slam The Door" come off as anxious and heavy, yet groovy and electronic. Others like "The End Of Civilization" have a tribal feel with bongs and shakers. Both would be considered opposite ends of the spectrum in a way but still somehow fit into the personality of Uprooted.

AoP: Who are your influences?

BW: So many.......so little space.... just a few would be KISS, The Beatles, Phil Collins, Fleetwood Mac, King Diamond.... the list goes on and on....

AoP: What is your proudest moment so far?

BW: Probably getting to work with Danny Draven at Darkwave. He is truly a man with vision and he has directed some great films. The next one coming out is titled: Cryptz. I actually have a cameo in a scene. I am a decrepit homeless crack-head laying on a stair-well. I can't wait until the film comes out.

AoP: I can hear why it would suite a horror movie with its eerie sound but how did Slam the Door come to appear on Darkwave films' "Hell Asylum"?

BW: Basically I bribed Danny to use it in the film......   haha. He wouldn't go quietly!
No really I had met Danny at some party in L.A. and we started talking and I let him hear some material which he thought would go really well in Hell Asylum. I gave him a disk full of stuff and Slam the Door was a tune that  happened to fit what he was trying to relay in the scene.
AoP: What is your favourite Uprooted song?

BW: Hmm. you know it would probably have to be between "Boom" and "Soft Money" they are two of our newer tunes. I guess I really dig the fresher direction and the stuff we're putting together right now more than ever.

AoP: What is your favourite all time song?

BW: Yikes your really pushing now huh! Wow I think maybe Damage Inc. off Metallica's Master Of Puppets.
Very influential!
AoP: What would be your dream band line-up?
BW: Me Myself and I!  nope I'm not modest!

haha! I like who I have in the band now.
AoP: Do you have any funny stories you can share with us? >>
BW: Depends on how graphic I can be here.........
No I definitely can't tell them in this forum...
AoP: Finally, what do you see in the future for Uprooted?
BW: Well I definitely see us contributing in more feature films, geting our first major release finished, and touring a lot.

AoP: Thanks for your time and good luck

BW: No worries at all, I enjoyed it.  be sure and check out the film Hell Asylum as well as the website www.Uprooted.com
