Albums of Purgatory: Firstly, what's the band up to?
Richard Lee: At the moment we are working on some new stuff for our new album and playing gigs again.
AoP: How would you describe the Blakfish sound?
RL: mm, I guess its new metal but were not like the stuff around at the momment.  If you had to compare us to someone i guess it would have to be lost prophets.
AoP: How and when did the band begin?
RL: We began about 3 years ago, we were all friends from the same school and just got together and messed about and got a few songs together. Then as we progressed we did a couple of recordings are made our first album.
AoP: Who are your influences?
RL: We've all got different influences such as lost prophets, RHCP and we all like a wide range of music.  Mine would have to be Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer stuff like that.
AoP: Can you remember your first gig (how did it go)?
RL: Hmm first gig.  I think it was in the back of this dirty pub in a tiny room filled with about 50 people.  We played well but the crowd were crap.
AoP: Did the band get much stick for doing a Britney cover?
RL: It was a bit of a chance doing that but it always goes down well and I reckon its a good song.
AoP: What are your favourite Blakfish tracks?
RL: Definately Close But Yet Too Far.
AoP: What are your favourite all time songs?
RL: Thats hard but id say One and Blackened by Metallica,  What It Is by Flea from RHCP and Ill Get Even my MegaDeth.  Theres more than that but theres to may to list.
AoP: What was the first album you bought?
RL: ...And Justice For All by Metallica and it was money well spent
AoP: What would be your dream band line-up?
RL: Vocals - Jaymz Hetfield
      Lead Guitar - Kirk Hammet
      Drums - Drummer from slayer
      Bass - Dave Ellefston
AoP: What do you think of the position of music in general today?
RL: I think that music today is getting better.  I think that the age of manufactered "bands" is comming to a close and that real music is comming back.
AoP: Do you have any funny stories about the band you can share with us?
RL: Yea kinda, we did this gig at some hall and the crowd we havin none of it. Half way through our guitarist drummer and singer left leaving myslef and our other singer on our own, it wasnt that funny at the time tho.
AoP: and finally, what do you see in the future for Blakfish?
RL: We need to get some more material recorded and promote ourselves more, and who knows what lies ahead.
