Albums of Purgatory Interview Danger Danger's Bruno Ravel
Albums of Purgatory: First of all, what are you
up to?
Bruno Ravel: I am an independent engineer/producer and I'm always working. I work
mainly out of 3 studios in NYC as well as my home studio (when I'm allowed.) As for the
Hard Rock stuff, I am currently tracking the new WestWorld CD titled "Act III."
AoP: How would you
describe your sound?
BR: I'm assuming you're asking about D2. I would describe our "sound" as Heavy,
Hard Melodic Pop.
AoP: How did Danger Danger start back in the late '80s?
BR: I put a band together with Steve and we pieced it together member by member starting
with Al Pitrelli, then Kasey Smith. We originally had a different singer and then I asked
Ted to join. We got signed soon there afterwards. Andy joined after we were signed.
AoP: Who were your influences?
BR: In the beginning it was Kiss, Aerosmith, Cheap Trick, Motley, VH. Later on it
was Rick Springfield& Mutt Lange.
AoP: What was it like touring with the likes of KISS and Alice
Cooper? Did you learn a lot?
BR: It was probably the best time I ever had. Kiss were nothing but nice to us and I
consider them friends. Alice, though he was not around a lot, was also great. We toured
with Kiss a few times and they were my favorite band growing up so you know how special it
was to me. We learned the "do's & "don'ts" of big time touring.
AoP: Who have you enjoyed touring and working with the most?
BR: Probably Kiss, but all the tours were special.
AoP:What is your proudest memory?
BR: That's a tough one. I'll pass.
AoP: What is your favourite all time song?
BR: There isn't ONE all time favorite song. There are loads! Any Mutt song, Lots of
Aerosmith & Cheap Trick etc, etc..too many to mention.
AoP: What would be you dream band line-up?
BR: Another toughy. Let's see .... Tyler on Vox, Lee on Drums, Eddie on Gtr, Me on Bass.
Sound good?
AoP: and Finally, what do you see in the future for Danger Danger
and yourself?
BR: I have no idea! That's why life is so tough. I would hope that I'll be able to make a
living as a musician for the rest of my life, but one never knows. As for D2? We take it
one day at a time. I hope we can continue on and prosper.
