Albums of Purgatory: How would you describe the Infernal Poetry sound?

Daniele Galassi: It is a mix between american brutality and european melodies. We love both kind of metal and we try to cross them to create new emotions and solutions.

AoP: Who are your influences?

DG: Slayer, Death, Suffocation, Dark Tranquillity, Carcass, Symphony X...and a lot more as Kason Becker, Malmsteen, etc...

AoP:How did the band start back in 96 as Necronomicon?

DG: We were palying in a small unknown band and we decided to make something serious...but we found a lot of difficulties, as you can imagine!

AoP: What caused the name change?

DG: Well, Necronomicon is a shitty name...it is not original and doesn't fit  with our sound anymore...so in 1997 we changed into INFERNAL POETRY and since then we started to work better...i consider Necronomicon as another band...

AoP: The band has suffered several line-up changes since.  How difficult has that been?

DG: Yes, up to 1998 we had a lot of problems who damaged our activity...but since oct 1998 we became a five piece combo and since then we never had line up problems...and i hope that we will never have!!!

AoP: What are your favourite Infernal Poetry tracks?

DG: Really dunno...i love each song...maybe TILL THE SEVENTH SKY or FROM MORTAL BODY TO ETERNAL SOUL...but also HELL SPAWN or DEVIATION IN SACRALITY....or PRAGAMATIC GEMINI? AHH!!!i love every song....

AoP: What are your favourite all time songs?

DG: Aqualung (Jethro Tull), Alison Hell...Altitudes (Jason Becker)...and many more!|

AoP: What was the first record you bought?

DG: I think Countdown to Extinction...but i am not sure...

AoP: What would be your dream band line-up?

DG: Really dunno...to many axcellent artists...but my favourite drummer is Geene Hoglan and my favourite guitar player Jason Becker...

AoP: What do you think of the position of metal and music in general today?

DG: Crysis of course...but Napster and co. gave new life to music business, but the 5 majors did not understand the immense possibilities of this new consumption pattern...if the music will lost  artists the big five will be to blame, not the file sharing...

AoP: Do you have any funny or wierd stories you can share with us about the band?
DG: Well, when we toured across Europe last year with Impiety, Rotting Christ, Abigail and Decayed we had a lot of funny (read dramatic!!!) situations...camper broken down, no Dutch money to make fuel, no water in the camper toilet when you need it, no time to sleep or eat...really a lot of incredible situations...if you are intersted in it you can check www.infernalpoetry.com clicking on Euro tour...you will find a complete report date by date!

AoP: and finally, what do you see in the future for Infernal Poetry?
DG: I hope to get known outside our country as soon as possible..no money expectation of course, only professional satisfaction...and i hope to record opur new album very very soon!!!
