Albums of Purgatory interview Epidemia

Firstly, what's the band up to right now?

Right now we are concentrating on the recording of our new album "Wetbacks
With Attitude", which should be release late 2003 and will have at least 13
tracks of heavy shit.

How would you describe the Epidemia sound?

The best description for our music its "Hard Core Spanish Metal" no bull
shit, no commercial shit, music inspired by the bullshit around the world.

How did you get involved with the band?

I was invited to jam with a band name "Nativo" 5 years ago, but the music
wasn't heavy enough so I end up creating a side project called EPIDEMIA
with Nativo band members.but with out the singer.

Can you remember your first gig (how did it go)?

I think the first show with EPIDEMIA was at Aztlan Booksote, and it went
well, a lot of people showed up to support the Wetback style! hehe

Are you involved in any other projects and if so how do they compare to
Epidemia?

Bro right now we are 100% into EPIDEMIA no time for side projects, we have
a lot of shit coming up this way and can't take the risk to get distracted.
not even for a minute.

What are your favorite Epidemia tracks?

All of them but if I have to choose I would say: Cultura, El Pueblo,
Mantente Fuerte (not recorded yet), De Frente (not recorded yet), Mis
Palabras (not recorded yet), this last ones will be on the new album.

What are your favorite all time songs?

Brujeria (Pito Wilson), Sepultura (Caos AD), A.N.I.M.A.L. (Solo Por Ser
Indios), Fear Factory (EdgeCrusher), Cannibal Corpse (Return To Flesh).

What the first record you ever bought?

Transmetal - "El Infierno De Dante"

Which album was it that got you into metal and can you explain why?

Transmetal - "El Infierno De Dante", this band because they are from my
hometown, Yurecuaro Michoacan Mexico and they are like a living legend
among our country and south America.

What's the last album you purchased and what did you think of it?

Lamb Of God - "As The Palaces Burn" ..mmmm..hehe I like it, not as much
as "New American Gospel", but it sound heavy as fuck!! That's what matters.

What would be your dream band line-up?

The one we have right now. it's perfect I would not change it for any thing.

If you could do a cover for a tribute album to any band, which song of
which band would you pick and why?

Sepultura - "Propaganda" .the lyrics the vocals the riffs everything fuckin
rules about that song.

What do you think of the position of metal and music in general today?

I think that real metal it's the underground metal and not the shit you
listen to in the radio now days, all that new metal crap it's just
superficial and will go away eventually, real metal it's here to stay and
fuck the rest!!

Which other bands stand out for you at the moment?

Lamb Of God
Cannibal Corpse
Slayer
A.N.I.M.A.L.
Cirrosis
Soulfly

Do you have any funny stories about the band you can share with us?

Lots of them, in Chicago I got hit on the face with the mic while singing
by some guys in the moshpitt, the following week same shit moshpitt throw
me against drums and scratch my back with the symbols stands.fuck it it's
part of the gig.hehe.

and finally, what do you see in the future for Epidemia?

We got a lot of plans the most important one is to keep playing and getting
our music out there for Metal Heads to listen to, something we are looking
forward to is to get international distribution it doesn't have to be a
major record companies just one that will make our music available to every
single metal head and Guerrillero out there.
